Mr. Teng Zhiduo, 62, lived in Houteng Village, Huanghua City, Hebei Province. He was very healthy after he began practising Falun Gong in 1998. However, since the persecution started in July 1999, the police arrested and detained him many times. The most severe case occurred in autumn 2004 when police officers from the Huanghua City Police Department arrested Mr. Teng while he was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They detained him for two months and subjected him to numerous tortures.

His family spent more than 10,000 yuan1 to "buy" him out on bail. He was extremely weak upon his return home. He was very pale, and his body was swollen. His family was scared that he would be arrested again. They strictly watched him, and obstructed him from practising Falun Gong. He never recovered. His mind was unclear and he was in a state of very low energy.

In Spring 2007, he had symptoms of a stroke. He was checked in the hospital many times. On the evening of March 24th, 2008, Mr. Teng Zhiduo fell. His family took him to the hospital, but he quietly passed away, never having recovered from the tortures he experienced for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
