At 8:00 a.m. on May 13th, 2008, as Liu Shan left for work, agents from the 610 Office1 arrested him. He is still missing. His wife and three-year-old son remained at home. Police wanted to break in but failed. Later on the mother and son disappeared, and no one knows their whereabouts.

Dalian Foreign Language Institute Teacher Liu Shan

Mr. Liu Shan was born in 1970 and was a teacher at the Japanese Department of the Dalian Foreign Language Institute. He was well known as a good teacher, particularly since he began practising Falun Gong.

He was arrested twice before for practising Falun Gong.

After July 20th, 1999, the day the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the slander and accusations of Falun Gong through their controlled media, Liu Shan went to Dalian City authorities to appeal to them. Institute leaders kept him under surveillance after his return and forbade him any contact with Falun Gong practitioners outside the Institute. They forced him to write a "thought report" to denounce Falun Gong and also threatened to deprive him of his right to go abroad, yet Liu Shan refused to give up his beliefs.

Also, on the morning of July 9th, 2001, a group of plain-clothes police officers intruded into Liu Shan's dormitory, forcibly arrested him and locked him up at the Guanshanzi Reform School.
