Two Practitioners Die from Illnesses after Being Detained and Abused in Fushun City and Xinjiang

Ms. Qin Suhua from Hongtoushan Town, Qingyuan County, Fushun City

Ms. Qin Suhua, in her fifties, was a practitioner from Xiadapu Village, Qinqyuan County, Fushun City. On the night of April 8th, 2005, police officer Gao Minglei and Guan Yong from the State Security Division of the Fushun City Police Department, led by Li Dongbao, a police officer from Hongtoushan Town Police Station, came to Ms. Qin's home and arrested her. They sent her to the First Public Safety Division of Fushun City. She was beaten and humiliated during the interrogation which lasted until after midnight. Early in the morning of the next day, Ms. Qin was sent to the Fushun City Police Department Shelter for detention. On May 9th, 2005, she was transferred to the Second Division of Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. In September of 2005, Ms. Qin was sent to the Shenyang City Fourth People's Hospital where she was diagnosed with breast cancer. To avoid responsibility, the labour camp officers sent her home on medical parole. Ms. Qin passed away on March 25th, 2007.

Mr. Lu Tingxiao from Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region

Mr. Lu Tingxiao, 66 years old, served in the 66th Regiment, 4th Agriculture Division of the Xinjiang Construction Regiment. Mr. Lu started practising Falun Gong in 1997. In October of 1999, Mr. Lu went to Beijing to appeal for a stop to the persecution of Falun Gong. After he came back, his workplace sent him to a brainwashing centre and he was fined before he was released. Mr. Lu was detained several times afterwards and his home was ransacked many times. In May of 2007, while Mr. Lu was in Hainan Province, he was sent to another brainwashing centre. During detention, he showed symptoms of severe illness. Mr. Lu passed away on March 31st, 2008.
