On January 30th and February 1st, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners rallied in Frankfurt. They demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises together and protested against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s persecution of human rights. One after another, local people expressed their support for for an immediate end to the persecution.

Both Chinese and Western Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises together on the morning of January 30th. Over 40 Falun Gong practitioners from more than a dozen German cities came together on Roman Square in Frankfurt. Many passers-by stopped to watch, ask questions and take photos. Among the onlookers there were also some Chinese people visiting Germany during Chinese New Year.

After learning that Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, a tour group of nine high school students from France not only expressed their understanding and sympathy but also were attracted by the peaceful and beautiful exercises. They all carefully learned exercise number 3 and practised it three times together with practitioners.

On the afternoon of the same day, Falun Gong practitioners set up an information point and displayed pictures exposing the CCP’s nine-year brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Many passing shoppers were shocked and expressed their indignation at the CCP’s cruelty. They signed the petition supporting Falun Gong practitioners and calling for an immediate end of the persecution.

On the afternoon of February 1st, in cold weather, over 20 Falun Gong practitioners peacefully protested in front of the CCP Consulate in Frankfurt. Nearly all passers-by accepted leaflets, and some still stopped and asked for details. A German policeman who was on duty nearby smiled, “Over the past few years, you have been peaceful. We are very clear about it.”
