  • Twelve Years of Atrocities at the Yunnan Province Women's Labour Camp

    Ms. Yang Suhong, a 24-year-old practitioner, was sent to the Yunnan Women's Labour Camp on November 30th, 2004 by police and Communist Party officials. Ms. Yang was emaciated and near death as a result of brutal brainwashing and torture. She was released in May 2005. She died about one month later, on June 11th, 2005. Ms. He Meihua was subjected to brainwashing and had to do forced labour at the labour camp. Her physical condition gradually deteriorated and her life was in danger. Labour camp officials finally released her, but she died soon afterwards.
  • Ms. Han Binying Severely Abused in Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City

    Ms. Han Binying from Harbin City was arrested and taken to the Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in April 2010. The guards shocked her with electric batons and otherwise abused her. She also had more than 30,000 yuan extorted from her before she was released in April 2011. She recounts her experience: "I was reported to the police on March 21st, 2010, as I distributed information about Falun Gong. I was taken to Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. Division head Wang Min and political head Zhang Aihui tried to force me to write the three statements to give up my belief [in Falun Gong]. I refused to comply, so they tortured me. As a result, my legs were covered in bruises. They also shocked me with electric batons."
  • Various Torture Methods Used in Wuhan City Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Wuhan Women's Forced Labour Camp has used many torture methods on female Falun Gong practitioners. They removed the clothes from female practitioners in public, shocked them with electric batons, forced them to stand for long periods of time, deprived them of sleep, hung them up by handcuffs for several days, deprived them of toilet use, refused to let them meet with their family members, force-administered unknown drugs, and applied force-feeding techniques, just to name a few.
  • The Brutal Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai

    One young male practitioner in Tilanqiao Prison refused to write a statement renouncing his belief in Falun Gong, so the assigned inmates forced him to sit still on a small low stool for extended periods of time. The practitioner was forced to keep one posture all the time with his hands behind his back. He was deprived of sleep as well, with inmates watching him in turns, hitting him with a stick on the head, back, arms, and legs every time he closed his eyes.
  • Mr. Wang Jinling Arrested on His Way to Work, His Whereabouts Unknown

    Mr. Wang Jinling went missing on the morning of August 26th. His wife looked for him everywhere and finally learned that he was arrested by Henghu City Domestic Security Division police. Mr. Wang's family has no idea where he is being detained. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, the couple have been subjected to persecution by local authorities. They had to live away from home to avoid the persecution in 2001. Hengshui City 610 Office agents searched for, followed and monitored the couple the entire time.
  • How the Guiyang Railroad Locomotive Factory Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

    Officials of the Guiyang Railroad Locomotive Factory have actively participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners over the past decade. They have dismissed practitioner employees and cut off their source of income. They followed Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] three policies of “ruining their reputations, devastating them financially, and destroying them physically” in persecuting practitioners. According to law, forced labour terms should not result in termination of employment. However, the Guiyang Railroad Locomotive Factory fired practitioners who were sent to labour camps so that they could not make a living when they were released.
  • Mr. Li Shaotie in Critical Condition Due to Persecution--Elderly Mother Holds a Sign on the Street to Solicit Help

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Shaotie and Ms. Zhang Baoqin were arrested by police on September 13th. Mr. Li was brutally tortured and has since been in a coma. Police sent both practitioners to Fujin Detention Centre. They have not eaten or had any water. They are in critical condition. Mr. Li was sent to the emergency department at Fujin Hospital. Mr. Li's 90-year-old mother, wife, and relatives went to Fujin City Police Department multiple times to request that he be released. The police refused to meet with them. They also threatened Li's elderly mother.
  • Music Teacher Ms. Zhong Yanhong Subjected to Forced Labour for the Third Time

    Ms. Zhong Yanhong was arrested on June 10th, 2011, on her way to work. The police ransacked her residence and took many of her personal belongings. They also arrested Ms. Lian Xinqun, who was visiting Ms. Zhong. It has been learned that Ms. Zhong was given a two-year forced labour term, which is her third term. For remaining steadfast in her belief in Falun Gong, she has been persecuted numerous times. She was previously arrested and subjected to three years of forced labour in 2002, and one year in 2008. While she was in Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, she was denied toilet use, deprived of sleep, placed in a solitary cell, and had her term extended. She held long-term hunger strikes several times to protest the severe physical abuse and mistreatment.
  • Beijing Practitioner Mr. Zhang Licheng Again Sent to a Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Licheng was released from a forced labour camp in May 2010. One year later he was arrested again, on June 22nd, 2011. Police beat and kicked him, and dragged him to the police car. After a month, without any reason or any explanation, an officer from the Shijingshan Police Station informed Mr. Zhang's family that he had been sentenced to a two-year forced labour term.
  • Ms. Zhao Baoli Is Facing a Third Trial Despite No Evidence of Wrongdoing

    Ms. Zhao Baoli is a Falun Gong practitioner in Chengde City, Hebei Province who was given one year of forced labour in 2007. Ms. Zhao was arrested again on January 5th, 2011 by police from the Chengde City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the local police station. She is currently detained in the Chengde City Detention Centre.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners' Families' Appeal to Weihai Court Rejected, Court Afraid of Setting a Precedent

    Recently, the families of detained Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiuhong and Ms. Tian Lisha initiated legal proceedings and administrative reconsideration to Weihai City Government and Weihai City Court. They hired lawyers to defend the practitioners' innocence. However, Weihai City Court officials did not even want to file the case for fear of setting a precedent. During the first half of 2011, 12 practitioners from Wendeng, Weihai, Shandong Province, were arrested. Four were sent to forced labour camps, one was secretly sentenced, and the rest were not released until they were on the brink of death from being tortured.
  • Kindergarten Teacher Arrested in Jilin Province for Practising Falun Gong

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Guirong was arrested at home by police on September 1st. Their justification for arresting her at this time was because of something that took place three and half years earlier. On March 10th, 2008, Ms. Jia's family of three took a taxicab to visit relatives, who lived at the outskirts of Baicheng City. They exposed the persecution of Falun Gong to the taxi driver but he reported them to the police. Ms. Jia was taken to the Baicheng Detention Centre. Later, due to a relapse of her heart disease, she was released on bail.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Aidong from Nanjing City Arrested for the Seventh Time

    Ms. Zhang Aidong, 60, was arrested at her home by police on September 14th. They ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, an MP3 player and other personal belongings. Ms. Zhang is currently being held at Gulou Brainwashing Centre. This is Ms. Zhang's seventh time of being arrested because she practises Falun Gong. She has been taken to Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province three times, in 2000, July 2005 and September 2009.
  • Four Practitioners from Maoming City in Guangdong Province Arrested and Taken to Hexi Brainwashing Centre

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Shaozai, Ms. Mai Weilian, Ms. Pan Guihui, and Ms. Hong Meifang were arrested and taken to Hexi Brainwashing Centre on the evening of August 6th. Their family members immediately asked the brainwashing centre to release them. In the brainwashing centre, cold water was poured over the practitioners if they were seen doing the Falun Gong exercises. Mr. Liu began to have blood in his stool and developed symptoms of hepatitis. His weight dropped from 165 to 110 pounds.
  • Guards in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Attack Practitioners Who Protest the Persecution

    Guard Yu Jiang from Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, about 37 years old, is now the team lead of the No. 3 Team of the No. 1 Jail. He is recognized as one of the most evil, most ruthless “hatchet men” in Masanjia. In order to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs, he personally implemented torture methods, including hanging practitioners up in an “airplane style” position, tying them on a death bed, the “stretching” torture, shocking them with 800,000-volt electric batons, smoking their noses with burning newspaper, depriving them of sleep for many days, etc. He has also unscrupulously extorted money from detainees and their families in amounts ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of yuan, and then claimed the money was his.
