Ms. Fan Guoxia Recounts the Persecution She Experienced in Harbin Women's Prison

Fan Guoxia, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on February 6th, 2002 and sentenced to seven years in prison. She has been imprisoned since May 15th, 2003. Ms. Fan recounts the persecution that she has suffered in prison: "The guards put me in solitary confinement using the excuse of SARS prevention. Guard Tao Dandan asked me to her office in order to have a “discussion” with me. She demanded that I say “Checking in.” I refused, as I have committed no crime and do not need to report to the authorities as if I were a criminal. With gloved hands, Tao slapped my face until her hands hurt. She tried to force me into a squatting position but I refused that as well. Every two days Tao ordered somebody to torture me." -
Children of Falun Gong Practitioners Discriminated Against at School
2011-01-20When I was arrested by 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in 2008, they also went to my daughter's school and tried to pressure the principal to call for a school-wide meeting to slander Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was resorting to implication and other coercive measures widely used during the Cultural Revolution to stir hatred among the masses. The 610 Office's intention was to poison the minds of students in my daughter's school, while at the same time discriminating against and isolating my daughter. The school officials did not carry out what the authorities wanted. For some time, the 610 Office sent out people to follow my daughter after school. They were trying to arrest any practitioners who would contact my daughter, but none of their tricks worked. -
Lieutenant Commander's Health Destroyed While Held in Prison for Ten Years
2011-01-19Mr. Wang Youjiang is a Falun Gong practitioner and the former lieutenant-commander of the communications corps of the Lanzhou Military Region. He was arrested by police for practising Falun Gong on January 10th, 2001. Simply for trying to be a good person, adhering to his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and writing a banner “Restore Falun Gong's Innocence,” Mr. Wang was sentenced to ten years in prison. He was held at three facilities in Lanzhou City: the Xiguoyuan Detention Centre, the Xigusiergou Detention Centre, and the Dashaping Prison. His prison term ended on January 9th, 2011. His health has deteriorated after years of abuse in the prison and he can no longer take care of himself. His wife has also left him. -
Persecution Carried Out at Zibo Women's Labour Camp in Shandong Province
2011-01-19In 2008, during the Beijing Olympics, I was arrested by police and sentenced to two years of forced labour for practising Falun Gong sent to Zibo Women's Forced Labour Camp. During my detention, I was brutally persecuted. I also witnessed many Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted unscrupulously and tortured for refusing to give up the practice. A practitioner was tortured by two female drug addicts, until her whole body was covered with wounds. They beat her day and night, hitting her in the chest and back. This practitioner was locked up every day in a solitary cell. She was forced to stay within an area as wide as a floor tile. She was beaten if she stepped out of this boundary. -
Grade School Teacher Ms. Shang Shuxia Sent to Forced Labour Camp
2011-01-19Ms. Shang Shuxia was reported by an informant when she distributed Falun Gong informational DVDs in a residential building on May 1st, 2009. At the time, she fainted and because she was diagnosed with having heart disease at a hospital, they had to release her. On November 22nd, 2010, police officers took Ms. Shang to a detention centre that afternoon. On the 15th day after the arrest, the police sent Shang Shuxia to Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp for 21 months. Shang Shuxia’s family visited her at Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp on December 16th. The 3rd Brigade leader deprived her family of their right to visit using the excuse that Shang Shuxia did not cooperate. -
A Female Entrepreneur and Her Three Family Members Were Arrested
2011-01-19Ms. Wang Haihong, 43, a people's representative of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, and an entrepreneur, was arrested. In the months leading up to the Asian Games, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) escalated the persecution in the name of increasing security. On the evening of August 21st, 2010, Ms. Wang's three apartments at Guangzhou and one company were ransacked by policemen from the Domestic Security Division of the Tainhe Police Department branch office at Guangzhou. Her younger sister Ms. Wang Haiying was arrested and her home in Luoyang was ransacked by Luoyang 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Ms. Wang's youngest brother was sent to a forced labour camp for a one-year-and-nine-month term. -
Two Practitioners Die in December as a Result of Persecution
2011-01-18Ms. Fei Jinrong, a practitioner from Shuangyashan City of Heilongjiang Province and a former chief auditor from Shuangyashan City Auditory Bureau, was persecuted until she suffered a complete mental collapse. On December 12th, she passed away at the age of 61. Ms. Liu Wei, 55, was a practitioner in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. She was released from a forced labour camp in March 2010. Unfortunately, her health had been significantly compromised by the maltreatment she received, and she passed away on December 10th. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Tortured in Gangbei Prison in Tianjin
2011-01-18Because Mr. Liu Huijiang, 42, persisted in practising Falun Gong, he was arrested on November 30th, 2008. He was sentenced on August 31st, 2010, and detained in Gangbei Prison. After arriving at the prison in a car, he shouted, "Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" He was then taken to a cell and beaten by police. He was subsequently handcuffed and shackled by police officer. For each meal he was given only a piece of bread and some water. The guards forced him to sit on a small stool only 20 cm (8 in.) high. His handcuffs and shackles were connected to an iron hoop on the ground so that he could not straighten his body. He had to lie on the floor to eat. He could only use the toilet at a set time. -
Ms. Feng Angui from Qijiang County, Chongqing City, Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
2011-01-18When Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Angui went shopping on May 10th, 2010 police arrested her. Later, other police officers ransacked her house. While doing so, they arrested her husband, Mr. Li Zongyue, and took him to the Qijiang County Detention Centre. He was later released. The Qijiang County Court secretly tried Ms. Feng in August 2010 without informing her family. On December 13th, during another court proceeding, she was sentenced to three years in prison. -
Officers and Guards Cruelly Torture Ms. Cui Yutao in Datong City, Shanxi Province
2011-01-18Last June, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cui Yutao went to a police station seeking information regarding a fellow practitioner who had been arrested, and was herself arrested. She was arrested again in December. Officers tied Ms. Cui Yutao to the interrogation chair upon her arrival. She shouted, “Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" The deputy director of the city police department came, heard her shouting, then whipped her face with a black plastic-covered notebook over ten times. When the notebook broke, he used the black cover to continue to whip her. Those present were shocked to see his cruelty. Ms. Cui's eyes were watering and swollen. On January 6th, 2011, Ms. Cui Yutao was dying and had low blood pressure, so her family picked her up. Her condition is critical. -
Hotel Manager Ms. Sun Shufen Persecuted to Death
2011-01-17Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Shufen went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in December 2000, but was arrested. Ms. Sun was subjected to brainwashing at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents tried to force her to write the three statements to denounce Falun Gong. Because she refused to write such statements, she was shocked by the guards with electric batons. On one night, guard Hou Zhihong shocked her on the neck for three hours. Inmate Liu Dongjiao was instructed to deprive Ms. Sun of sleep by forcing her to stand still with her head bent downward. In 2003 Ms. Sun was arrested and sentenced to two years again and was severely tortured. Ms. Sun's health deteriorated due to constant bleeding that had started at the forced labour camp. She passed away on September 13th, 2009. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Lu Dongmei of Jining City, Shandong Province, Tortured
2011-01-17On September 14th, 2010, when Ms. Lu Dongmei was working she was again arrested by police. They pushed her into the vehicle, without identifying themselves or presenting an arrest warrant and did not notify her family. Ms. Lu was taken to a brainwashing centre to force her to renounce her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was also fired from her job. Previously, Ms. Lu was once taken to a mental hospital by police for practising Falun Gong. She was injected with unknown drugs, entered a vegetative state, and could no longer take care of herself. -
Police from Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province, Frame Innocent Woman
2011-01-17On December 13th, 2010, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Fengping and her daughter, Ms. Wang Dan. The two had gone to visit their relatives in Hengtoushan Town. The police tried to have Ms. Wang sentenced to a jail term. They fabricated evidence and forced her colleagues to perjure themselves in their testimonies. Ms. Wang Dan has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. While she was in high school, her mother was detained twice and the police constantly went to her school to harass her. The mental pressure and financial problems created by her mother’s detention forced Wang Dan to discontinue her high school education so that she could support herself. -
An Excellent Tangshan Steel Company Employee Arrested
2011-01-17On November 24th, 2010, Mr. Tang Tieyong was arrested by police and taken to the Second Detention Centre solely because he had viewed the Clearwisdom website (a Falun Gong website). His home was also ransacked. In 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong for the third time. Police identified him while he was on the train and detained him in Tangshan Brainwashing Centre. Mr. Tang was not released until authorities had extorted 6000 yuan from his family. -
Ms. Duan Linxia, Victim of Ongoing Detention and Extortion
2011-01-16Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Duan Linxia was most recently arrested on the morning of December 17th, when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at a market in Qianan City. Ms. Duan was first detained at the Shaheyi Town Police Station. In the afternoon, she was taken to the Qianan Police Department. Ms. Duan's husband, Mr. Liu Jianhua, was arrested in the afternoon. Her home was ransacked, and police confiscated the family's new car. Ms. Duan's husband was released that night. Ms. Duan is still being held at the Qianan Detention Centre.
