  • Four Practitioners in Qian'an City Detained throughout Multiple Court Hearings

    A hearing was held in Qian'an City Court for four Falun Gong practitioners on June 13th, 2010. This was their fourth hearing. Wang Ziliang, chief judge of the Second Criminal Court announced that, because practitioner Ms. Cui Qingru did not appear in court, these four practitioners would continue to be detained at Qian'an Detention Centre. The four practitioners, together with Ms. Cui Qingru, were arrested in October 2007. After three hearings and detentions extended past their terms, the Qian'an Court announced the primary verdict two years later on September 22nd, 2009. Li Yankui was sentenced to four years, Li Qingsong to three years, Zhao Minghua to three years, Zhang Hewen to three years, and Cui Qingru to a term of one year and ten months.
  • Mr. Liu Yong from Nanchang City Arrested--His Family Worried about Him

    Mr. Liu Yong was arrested on the evening of June 9th, 2010. They also ransacked his house. Mr. Liu's grandmother, along with his mother, in her sixties, and his wife went to the Taoyuan Police Station, as well as the Taohua Community Committee, the Qingshanhu Police Department in Nanchang City and other places to find out about his circumstances. They are worried that Mr. Liu may be subjected to torture, and anxiously look forward to seeing him home. His whereabouts are unknown.
  • Practitioners Mr. Pan Yushun from Jilin and Ms. Xue Qiaolan from Gansu Die as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Pan Yushun, 45, was reported to the police and arrested when he was making copies of materials about Falun Gong in November 2004. He was sentenced to one year of forced labour in Chaoyanggou Detention Centre. He was tortured through sleep deprivation, shocks from electric batons, and having his hands and feet shackled. He also endured rubber clubbing, the death bed, being tied up with ropes, having his muscles twisted with pliers, and wood chips under his nails. In April 2010, Mr. Pan heard a knock on the door of his home. He suspected it was the police and so out of fear, he affixed a rope and left through the window using the rope in an attempt to escape. Unfortunately, he fell and died.
  • Fabricated News Reported after Ms. Tian Jiang Was Arrested

    More than a dozen police broke into the home of Ms. Tian Jiang on June 3rd, 2010. Ms. Tian was home alone at the time. In order to avoid being arrested, she climbed to the outer protection grid of the balcony located on the fourth floor, and stood on the thin rails. The police called in the fire brigade. They used the climbing frame to forcibly get her down to the ground and then arrested her. During the process, the police and firemen kept telling the crowd of onlookers that Ms. Tian was attempting suicide. Ms. Tian kept shouting: "The police persecute Falun Gong!" She also said that she wasn't attempting suicide, but was forced into this situation by the police. On June 4th, a fabricated news story was broadcast, making it appear that Ms. Tian was attempting suicide and was rescued by the firemen.
  • Laishui County Police Break into a Practitioner's Home Twice Attempting to Take Her into Custody

    Officials from the Laishui County Political and Judiciary Committee, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and the Police Department in Hebei Province ordered township and town-level police officers to harass practitioners in the county. Several practitioners were arrested and subjected to forced labour. Laishui County police broke into Ms. Wang Linpo's home twice on June 12th and 13th in an attempt to send her to a forced labour camp. She was forced to close her small clothing store.
  • Qitaihe Court: Orders from "Above" Mandate Heavy Sentences for Those Who Hire a Defence Attorney

    On April 1st and 2nd, 2010, Xinxing District Court in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province, tried six Falun Gong practitioners in court. At the trial, the defence attorney showed that the evidence presented was entirely fabricated and that the "criminal facts" in the indictment contained only interrogation records and lacked any relevant information. The defendant's attorney repeatedly asked the prosecutor to provide evidence and witnesses, but the prosecutor was not able to. On April 30th, court officials went to the detention centre to announce the sentences in secret. They said that orders from "above" mandated that any Falun Gong practitioners who hired lawyers be given heavy sentences.
  • Mr. Wang Ruiqi Dies after Learning of His Wife's Death in Prison

    After he and his family had suffered years of persecution, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Ruiqin, 62, died on June 8th, 2010, 80 days after his wife, practitioner Ms. Shi Yingchun, died in prison. After the persecution began in July 1999, Mr. Wang was imprisoned in a forced labour camp twice for more than five years. His wife, Ms. Shi, was detained four times, subjected to forced labour twice, and imprisoned once. She was imprisoned for six years and eight months before she was beaten to death in prison. Their son, Mr. Wang Zhuo, also a practitioner, has been detained four times and subjected to forced labour twice. He has been imprisoned for eight years and is currently in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
  • Ms. Sun Jingping, 63, Incarcerated in a Brainwashing Centre

    When Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Jingping accompanied a practitioner's family to the Jiangan District Court on April 30th, 2010, to file an appeal for the other practitioner, the judge Wu Shanrong called the police to arrest her. They took her to Shenjiaji Brainwashing Centre where she is still being held. Ms. Sun has been arrested and detained twice before. The first time was on December 23rd, 2000, when she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. In Haidian District Detention Centre a guard bombarded her with punches and kicks. The guards ordered all female practitioners to strip off all their clothes and jump around. Whoever refused was subjected to brutal beatings. None of the cells was heated even though it was late December and very cold.
  • Ms. Zheng Cuifang Insulted and Tortured in Jiangsu Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Cuifang was brutally tortured in Jiangsu Women's Forced Labour Camp in Judong. She was humiliated when ordered to take off her clothes to be inspected by the guards, and during March and April 2010, the guards forced her to lie on the cold cement tiles without any clothes on. Within several months, she was as thin as a stick. Her original weight was around 165 lb. In order to avoid being held responsible for her condition, the authorities at the forced labour camp secretly sent Ms. Zheng elsewhere. Nobody knows if she is still alive or not.
  • Mr. Gao Jianting Tortured by Laiyang Police on Suspicion of Helping Ms. Liu Zhimei

    Laiyang City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) personnel suspected that Mr. Gao Jianting helped arrange care for Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Zhimei. Ms. Liu was a student in Tsinghua University who was expelled and suffered a mental collapse after enduring extensive inhuman treatment. On May 21st, 2010, police arrested him. They held him in the domestic security division, the crime response squad, a brainwashing centre in the Party school, and the Zhaoyuan Brainwashing Centre. Mr. Gao was released a week later after suffering brutal beatings.
  • Obstruction of Justice at the Trial of Practitioner Mr. Zhang Ximing

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Ximing was arrested while putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on March 30th, 2010. His family hired two attorneys to defend him. The trial was held on June 10th at the Hexi District Court. Wei Changming, the female public prosecutor representing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) repeatedly slandered Falun Gong and framed Mr. Zhang Ximing. The defence lawyer said, "The posters that Mr. Zhang Ximing posted didn't hurt anyone or damage any property, so it doesn't constitute a crime." The judge and the prosecutor interrupted many times for no reason, making it impossible for the attorneys to perform a normal defence.
  • Restaurant Owner Mr. Wang Tieqiang from Gaobeidian City Subjected to Repeated Persecution

    About 20 police officers arrived in six vehicles and surrounded Huixianju Restaurant in Gaobeidian City at on June 12th, 2010. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Tieqiang, who owns the restaurant, was arrested and detained at the Beicheng Police Station. He was transferred to a detention centre the next morning. The officers also ransacked Mr. Wang's home and the restaurant, smashing the windows of the storage room, prying open all the locks, and breaking and confiscating many of Mr. Wang's personal belongings. They also ransacked the residence of Mr. Wang's neighbour. Mr. Wang has been repeatedly persecuted since the Chinese Communist Party initiated its campaign against Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999.
  • Mr. Wang Dejun Tortured in the Number Two Men's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province

    Mr. Wang Dejun was arrested on August 31st, 2009 by 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) personnel from Gaomi City. He was detained at the Gaomi City Detention Centre for more than a month, and was put in solitary confinement and ordered to sit on an iron chair. He was later sent to the Number Two Men's Forced Labour Camp for one year. He became very weak as a result of being subjected to torture at the forced labour camp.
  • Ms. He Zhiwei Abused at the Guangzhou Brainwashing Centre

    Ms. He Zhiwei was arrested by 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) on April 9th, 2009, and has been held at three different brainwashing facilities for more than fourteen months in total. At the Guangzhou Brainwashing Centre, she was tied up and suffered verbal abuse. A group of thugs forced her to kneel down while they beat her. They struck her head with books, which dislocated the bones in her neck. Her physical condition continued to deteriorate as a result of the abuse, and she began having serious headaches and dizziness.
  • Killing Falun Gong Practitioners for Profit

    Fearing Falun Gong's growth, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has repressed it as a rival with a savage brutality continuously since July 1999. Torture, rapes, beatings to death, detentions in forced labour camps, brainwashing—all have become the daily lot of Falun Gong practitioners across China for more than a decade. Falun Gong practitioners today comprise two-thirds of the torture victims and half of the people in detention in 'reeducation through labour' camps across China. Practitioners have been killed in the thousands since 2001 so that their organs could be trafficked to both Chinese nationals and foreigners.
