Thirteen Practitioners Arrested and Harassed in Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province in the Last Two Months

From mid-August of this year to the end of October, thirteen practitioners were arrested and harassed, and their homes were ransacked. Among them, Ms. Zhang Guizhi, Ms. Zhang Xiuying, Ms. Yang Xiufen and eight other practitioners are still being held. Police went to the Qinxiangyuan Bakery run by Ms. Zhang Guizhi and Ms. Zhang Xiuying and arrested them. They confiscated 7,000 yuan in cash and property valued over 10,000 yuan, including a computer, without providing any sort of legal document. The two practitioners were taken to the Tonghe County Detention Centre. -
Mr. Li Changrong from Hong'an County, Hubei Province Arrested and Detained Again
2011-11-15Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Changrong has been persecuted many times. He was recently arrested and detained again. Mr. Li was subjected to long-term detention, brainwashing and sentencing. Mr. Li has spent most of the past ten plus years in detention. The Chinese Communist Party agents employed all kinds of persecution methods on Mr. Li; the most heinous is injecting him with unknown substances. Even while being abused so severely, Mr. Li has remained steadfast in his belief in Falun Gong. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Zhang Guixia and Ms. Qu Guiying from Fushun City, Liaoning Province Sentenced to Prison
2011-11-13Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Guixia, Ms. Qu Guiying and Ms. Li Honglan have been arrested and sentenced to forced labour several times over the past ten years. Their families have also suffered great pain. On March 9th, 2011 Ms. Qu Guiying, Ms. Zhang Guixia, and Ms. Huang Yaguang were again arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. This time, Ms. Zhang Guixia and Ms. Qu Guiying were sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Li Honglan was detained. -
Xie Chaoyan Arrested for Doing Good – Friends and Families Petition for His Release
2011-11-12Mr. Xie Chaoyan and his wife, Ms. Yan Congxi, are well known in the village as honest, hardworking, and good. In their free time from farming, they drive customers around on a motorcycle, and polishing shoes. Because of Mr. Xie's warmhearted demeanour and honest and hardworking attitude, many people are happy to ride with him. But his popularity caused jealousy among his competitors, who reported him to the Wanyu police. They complained that he practised Falun Gong and was encouraging his riders to withdraw from the Party. On September 21st, Mr. Xie was arrested by police. Fellow villagers had great sympathy for Mr. Xie misfortune as they knew the couple to be good people. Ms. Yan has recently collected many villager's signatures to petition for her husband's release. Some villagers even wrote below their signatures, “Mr. Xie is a very good person.” -
Chongqing Police Secretly Arrest Practitioner Wan Xinlin
2011-11-11In September, police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wan Xinlin without a proper warrant or any evidence. They took him to the Wanzhou District Brainwashing Centre, where he went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. It has been more than 20 days since his hunger strike began, and his health is now extremely poor. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong, he has been regularly targeted for persecution. In 2008, he was sentenced to 15 months of forced labour. In August 2010, he was taken to a brainwashing centre by police. -
Ms. Bian Chunyan from Fuxin City, Liaoning Province Sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2011-11-10Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bian Chunyan was arrested on August 31st by officials from the Domestic Security Division of Taiping Police Department, the Jianshe Police Station, and the Xitie Police Station. She was transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp on September 28th with sentence of 21 months of forced labour. Her family is anxious about her situation and has suffered grief and difficulty without her. -
Ms. Zhang Guanghua from Yongjing County, Gansu Province, Arrested
2011-11-10Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Guanghua was arrested by police on July 7th, 2011. A witness said that a plainclothes police officer went into Ms. Zhang's convenience store asking for a DVD about Falun Gong and the persecution. After she gave him one, the man called for fellow officers to arrest her, charging her with distributing Falun Gong DVDs. Sources have said that Ms. Zhang has been severely beaten, restrained on a tiger bench, and hung by her handcuffs. -
Engineer Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison--His Wife Recently Arrested, Leaving a Young Daughter Alone at Home
2011-11-09Mr. Liu Yongwang is about 40 years old, and a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Liu was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2006, and is currently detained in Jidong Prison in Tangshan City. Guard Zheng Yajun locked him in an empty room for eight consecutive months and ordered 14 inmates to torture him. On October 7th, Ms. Qi Shuying, Mr. Liu's wife, was at home with her daughter when the electricity suddenly went out. When they opened the door to check the electric meter, more than half a dozen police officers were waiting, and forced their way in. Ms. Qi was taken away by the police, leaving her young daughter alone at home, without anyone to care for her. Ms. Qi was taken to a brainwashing centre. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Ronglan from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, Is on a Hunger Strike to Protest Her Treatment
2011-11-07Ms. Li Ronglan was sentenced to Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp for two years in 2002 because she would not give up her belief in Falun Gong. When the guards were trying to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her, they suspended her from a window or between two beds and did not let even the tips of her toes touch the ground. She was left like this for more than 45 days and nights. The guards often shocked her with an electric baton, slapped her face, and kicked her in the abdomen repeatedly until she lost consciousness. They also stuffed socks into her mouth and then sealed it with tape. The guards also instigated other inmates to brutally beat her. Ms. Li was arrested again on October 10th, 2011. She is now in Wudan Town Detention Centre and has begun a hunger strike. -
Wuhan City 610 Office Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Before the 100-Year Anniversary of Xinhai Revolution - Part 1
2011-11-06The 100-year anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution took place on October 10th, 2011. Shortly before the anniversary, the 610 Office in Wuhan orchestrated the arrests of nearly 90 Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan. Practitioners were told to write guarantees to renounce practising Falun Gong. When they refused, they faced threats to be sent to a forced brainwashing centre or a detention centre. In some communities every Falun Gong practitioner was forced to write the guarantee. -
Chief Accountant Ms. Hu Dongling from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, Arrested and Tortured During Interrogation
2011-11-05While on a business trip on August 22nd, that night Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Dongling visited practitioner Ms. Li Guiyun. Several police officers broke in and arrested her, Ms. Li, and six other practitioners who were also present. It was learned later that the police acted on tips received. During the arrest the police showered Ms. Hu with kicks and punches, leaving her bruised and with a severe injury to her lower back. When she refused to be led away, they dragged her outside and twisted her arms behind her back. After taking her to Baoquanling Police Department, the police tied Ms. Hu up to a metal chair, and Wang Fudong interrogated her through the night. -
Mr. Ma Zifu and His Wife from Songyuan City, Jilin Province, Covertly Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Terms
2011-11-05Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Ma Zifu and his wife, Ms. Hua Yuru were covertly sentenced to ten years and eleven years in prison, respectively for practising Falun Gong. Ms. Hua was arrested on January 29th, 2010, by police. Her husband, Mr. Ma, was arrested on October 26th, 2010. The couple was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. -
Elderly Ms. Sun Zhuoying Sentenced Again
2011-11-05Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Zhouying, 64, was arrested on April 24th, 2011 and detained in the Pudong New District Detention Centre. It was heard that she was sentenced to five years in prison. Her family members were not informed about her trial and have not received any notification of a verdict or sentence. This is the second time that Ms. Sun has been sentenced to prison. She was also sentenced to a forced labour camp after serving the first prison sentence. -
Wuhan City Authorities Plot to Indict Nine Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-11-04Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, practitioners in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, have endured extreme persecution. According to incomplete statistics, approximately 100 local practitioners were arrested this year alone. Wuhan police seized seven practitioners on April 20th, 2011, and two more on May 5th. Wuhan City Police Department officials filed a request with the Wuchang District Procuratorate, ordering them to indict the nine newly arrested practitioners for violating the so-called “Article 300 of the Criminal Law.” -
Chongqing Couple Zhang Quanliang and Liu Zhilan Arrested Again
2011-11-01On October 11th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Quanliang and his wife Ms. Liu Zhilan were arrested by police while on their way to work. Their whereabouts are unknown. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Liu's family has endured numerous arrests, trials, and forced labour. Ms. Liu's mother Ms. Gu was sentenced to three years in 2000; Ms. Liu was placed in a forced labour camp for one year in 2005; Mr. Zhang was placed in a forced labour camp for three years in 2000 and was severely tortured – nearly to death, resulting in the deafness of his right ear. He was arrested again in December 2005 and sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
