  • Practitioners Arrested by Officers from Li County Public Security Bureau in Hebei Province

    Mr. Zhao Xiaochang is in his 50s and lived in Nanguan Village, Li County. On September 23rd, 2009, when he had just come home after helping his friend harvest corn, a gang of police officers barged into his home and arrested him without showing any identification. They ransacked his home and took his computer, Falun Gong books, and many other items. Mr. Zhao was cruelly tortured in the county detention centre. They handcuffed him and put fetters on his ankles many times for extended periods. Officer Wang Ruixin also connected the handcuffs and the fetters so that Mr. Zhao could not stand. Mr. Zhao went on a hunger strike to protest the unjust treatment.
  • Ms. Peng Yan from Wuhan City Arrested Again and Her Oldest Brother Facing Unjust Sentence

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Yan was arrested by officials and police on May 27th. Her oldest brother Mr. Peng Liang and three other practitioners were scheduled to be tried two days later. After attaining the power of attorney from her brother, she had hired a lawyer to defend her brother’s case. However, the authorities took her into custody again. All five members of Ms. Peng Yan's family are practitioners of Falun Gong. During the past 11 years since the persecution began, all five have been repeatedly arrested, detained and sentenced.
  • Ms. Lian Taotao Monitored at Home after Release from Brainwashing Centre

    A group of Furong District 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), seized Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lian Taotao outside her apartment building on May 5th, as she was on her way out. She was immediately taken to the Changsha Legal Education Centre. The local authorities set Ms. Lian free two days later on condition that her family agree to have her personal belongings confiscated and her freedom restricted after her release. She is now closely monitored at home.
  • Already Disabled from Previous Abuse, Mr. Li Shigang from Jilin City Is Again Arrested and Tortured

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr Li Shigang, 43, was arrested by police who broke into his home at around 6:00 a.m. on April 28th. According to sources, Mr. Li is currently detained in Jilin City Detention Centre. When he was brought to the detention centre, he was handcuffed, his mouth was stuffed with something, and there was a sack over his head. Moreover, the police held his head down, making it difficult for him to breathe. An insider said that his lower back and legs are now injured from the torture, and he is unable to walk. Mr. Li has been arrested five times since the Chinese Communist regime began its suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999. He was put through all kinds of torture, and became disabled as a result. He was sentenced to forced labour twice and went through unimaginable torture and pain.
  • Husband Files Lawsuit Against Police Who Wrongly Arrested His Wife Liu Yujing

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yujing was arrested by police on November 16th, 2010. She was tried by the Shizhong District Court on May 6th. Ms. Liu's husband, Mr. Tian Fengyu, presented an indictment to the court on May 25th. He filed a lawsuit against the police officers who violated the law by ransacking Ms. Liu's home, taking her way and presenting false evidence.
  • Wuhan Domestic Security Division Persecutes Falun Gong Systematically and Recklessly

    Eleven Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, were taken away from their homes and workplaces on the morning of April 20th. All of the arrests were carried out covertly, and all of the victims’ homes were ransacked. One of the 11 arrested practitioners, Mr. Feng Zhen once served seven years in prison for his belief in Falun Gong.
  • Middle School Teacher from Mengyin County, Shandong Province Sent to Forced Labour Camp Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yi Shuling, 42 years old, is a former teacher. She has stayed away from home for many years to avoid the persecution. When Ms. Yi went to Mengyin County Hospital on March 4th to take care of her cancer-patient father she was arrested. The next day she was sent to Linyi Detention Centre and was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour in Shandong Province Second Women’s Forced Labour Camp a month later. While there, someone put sleeping pills and unknown substances into her food.
  • Further Information on the Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners from Sanhe City, Hebei Province by the Langfang City 610 Office

    Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official Ma Hua led a team to Xiaotianzhuang Village. They broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Xiao Lihua. They arrested Ms. Xiao and sent her to the Langfang Brainwashing Centre. Mr. Li Min, Ms. Xiao Lihua’s husband, and their son Liu Xiaowei were arrested on December 22nd, 2010. They were sent to a brainwashing facility in Langfang, where they were incarcerated for over 30 days. The local authorities went to their homes to threaten and harass them in an attempt to have them renounce Falun Gong in writing during the summer of 2010 and in December 2010.
  • Police Fail to Arrest Mr. Cheng Guoxue, Send His Son, Mr. Cheng Junfeng, to a Forced Labour Camp Instead

    Mr. Cheng Guoxue and his son, Cheng Junfeng, are both Falun Gong practitioners. On April 25th, a total of ten police officers blocked the main entrance to Cheng Guoxue’s home with two cars. A few officers later entered the yard trying to arrest Mr. Cheng. His son and daughter-in-law tried to distract the police so Mr. Cheng could escape through a window. When the police failed to arrest Mr. Cheng, they arrested Mr. Cheng’s son and his daughter in-law. His daughter in-law was released that same night but Cheng Junfeng was taken to a detention centre in Huludao City for 15 days in detention.
  • Ms. Zhang Meilan and Ms. Peng Sufen File Appeal to the Supreme Procuratorate

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Meilan and Ms. Peng Sufen filed a complaint with the Supreme Procuratorate regarding the Yunnan High Court, which sentenced them. The practitioners made banners bearing the following inscriptions, “Falun Gong is Good. Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is Good.” “The World Needs Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance.” On the night of October 16th, 2009, they hung the banners on the Kaitong Road New Bridge overpass and near the railroad exit in the Dongchuan District, Kunming. Police subsequently searched their homes before releasing them on bail. The Kunming Middle Court tried them on May 13th, 2010.
  • Terminally Ill Practitioner Ms. Yang Guixia Tried by Gaoxin District Daqing City Procuratorate

    Ms. Yang Guixia was arrested by police while she was giving out Falun Gong materials on March 2nd, 2011. Her home was ransacked, and she was tortured during interrogation and detained for nearly two months. Her physical condition deteriorated as a result of the persecution. Ms. Yang's life is in danger. Her family unsuccessfully sought help for her release for two months and are now physically and mentally drained. On April 28th, the Gaoxin District Court went so far as to put her on trial her despite her critical physical condition.
  • Practitioner Ms. Zhu Jinzhong from Shunyi District, Beijing Arrested and Persecuted

    On April 26th, several police and officials broke into the home of practitioner Zhu Jinzhong. They ransacked her home and arrested her. Ms. Zhu was taken to the Tongzhou District Detention Station. In March 2008 (prior to the Beijing Olympics), she was arrested by police and her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Daxing Womens' Labour Camp for two years of forced labour “re-education.” Ms. Zhu refused to give up her Falun Gong practice, so she was taken to the Tumuji Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia to undergo brutal persecution. She was subjected to various torture methods there, including: Hung up, "death bed", electric shock, violent force-feedings, overexposure to the sun, handcuffed, beaten with rubber batons, kicked in sensitive body parts and deprived of the use of the toilet.
  • A Family Under Persecution: Three Brothers from Shandong Province Arrested Again

    On May 13th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Guo Jiahong, Mr. Guo Jiafu and Mr. Guo Jiasheng, three brothers were taken away from home by officers from the Domestic Security Team. The youngest of the three brothers, Mr. Guo Jiasheng had been previously arrested and detained on October 28th, 2002. Not knowing his son's whereabouts, father Mr. Guo Huiming died from grief and stress on February 11th, 2003. Mr. Guo Jiasheng was later sentenced to ten years in prison in August 2003. His mother Ms. Cui Zhimin could not bear the severe mental anguish and died on December 14th, 2004. The other two brothers were sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour in 2007.
  • Pan Lingyun of Zunyi City, Guizhou Province Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    Practitioner Ms. Pan Lingyun, in her thirties, from Zunyi City in Guizhou Province, was sentenced to three years in prison on March 18th. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel have sent her to a labour camp and a brainwashing centre. Police arrested Ms. Pan Lingyun on November 1st, 2010 on her way home from work. They took her house keys from her bag, barged into her house and confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong and a computer, and then arrested her. They recorded that she had more than 10,000 Falun Gong related items. They took her mother, Ms. Zhao Zhenshu, into custody at the same time. Both mother and daughter were detained in the “learning class,” where they were made to undergo brainwashing and were further persecuted in Banshanshuiku, Zunyi City.
  • Several Practitioners from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province Secretly Imprisoned

    Zhaoyuan City 610 Office officials (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shandong Province, together with other local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials, sent five practitioners to Jinan Women’s Prison on April 12th. Zhaoyuan officials held two secret court hearings for the practitioners on December 5th and December 21st, 2010. They prohibited defence attorneys from attending the hearings and did not allow family members to come, either. The practitioners were sentenced to imprisonment with terms ranging from four to eight years.
