Torture Cases of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Shijiazhang City's Beijiao Prison

Mr. Shi Yan was illegally sentenced to 11 years and detained in Shijiazhuang City's Beijiao Prison. In order to extort a confession from him, the police violently beat him. He was locked onto a metal chair for over 40 days. One a day in October 2003, prisoner Xu Haiying beat him on the chest, which caused him serious internal injuries. He vomited blood, which the prison guards witnessed.

Mr. Zhang Junmin, 43 years old, lived in Hugedong Village, Funing County. He was arrested for photocopying Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, sentenced to seven years and was detained in the No. 7 Ward. On December 15, 2002, because he practised the Falun Gong exercises, he was locked in the guardhouse. Although it was winter, the prison guard intentionally opened the window to let the cold wind into the room. Three days later Zhang Junmin said to them, "You are too inhuman! I will stop eating and will expose you on the Internet." As they feared to be exposed, they then closed the window. When Zhang Junmin was sent to forced brainwashing, he was beaten so violently that he could not see clearly and his stomach swelled up and hurt very badly. He was forced to sit for three days on a stool, which was placed upside down so that he had to sit on the legs.

Mr. Wang Wenwu, 36 years old, lived in Cangzhou City. He was arrested on August 20, 2002, sentenced to 11 years and detained in the No.7 Ward. He was tortured for over 20 days, between February 25 and March17, 2003. The prison guards incited the three prisoners to violently beat Wang Wenwu, deprive him of sleep for 24 hours, and beat his fingertips and five of his ribs with a bamboo plank. His fingers and palm were injured, and he suffered injuries to his internal organs so severe he could barely turn over. The prison guards personally beat Wang Wenwu. The prisoners used a stool to beat him on the back. Wang Wenwu's face became swollen as a result of torture. He was forced to sit for a long time on a stool, placed upside down. He was also forced to stand for 48 hours and deprived of sleep for four days. He lost control of his speech and started hallucinating.

Mr. Liu Wenji, 51 years old, lived in Chengde City. On December 20, 2000, he was arrested for unfurling a banner at Tiananmen Square. He was sentenced to four years and was detained in the No. 7 Ward. On April 11, 2000, after he had been detained for 149 days, he was released after the police extorted 3,000 yuan from him. On December 20, 2000, he was violently beaten in Beijing City's Shunyi Police Station until past 2:00 a.m. the next morning. Five or six people surrounded him and kept beating him. Although it was a very cold winter, they forced him to be naked until 11:00 p.m., and then poured cold water on him. The water on the floor soon turned into ice and they forced him to sit on it.

They tortured him in this way four or five times, which lasted over seven hours. Some parts of his body lost all sensation. He was shocked with electric batons over 150 times; his throat was swollen from the electric shocking. On March 31, 2003, when he was in the brainwashing centre of the No. 4 Ward he was deprived of sleep, water and food and was forbidden to go to the toilet. The prisoners particularly beat the most painful parts of his body; the upper parts of his legs were totally black and have not recovered, even after three months. They also forced him to sit cross-legged on a stool, which was placed upside down in order for them to beat him. After such severe beatings, he was not able move.
