Ms. Sun Shuwen, 54, from Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province Dies as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Sun Shuwen's family of four are Falun Gong practitioners. They have been subjected to persecution numerous times for remaining steadfast in their belief.

Ms. Sun Shuwen, 54, suffered from high blood pressure. After she began practising Falun Gong in 1996, her high blood pressure symptoms disappeared and remained normal. She followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance while operating her own business. She valued morality and ethics, was reliable, and never cheated her customers. The food she sold was clean and of good quality. Her customers thought highly of her.

After Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th,1999, Ms. Sun had no one to turn to in her local area to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to do the exercises on February 8th, 2000. State Security agents arrested her and later escorted her back to Fuyu County. She was held for over a month in a detention centre.

After being released, Ms. Sun was often under surveillance by the local police, and her home was frequently ransacked. She was also taken to a brainwashing facility numerous times. The street committee personnel often harassed her at home, and her normal life was disturbed.

In May 2001, the Fuyu County police collaborated with the Fulaerji police to take Ms. Sun to the Fulaerji Detention Centre for no legal reason. She was held there for nearly a month.

Ms. Sun's daughter was forced to stay away from home beginning on June 29th, 2001. In addition, her son was held in a forced labour camp for the second time, and her husband was taken to the Zhaodong City Detention Centre for the second time followed by a one-year forced labour term. He was later sentenced to eight years in prison.

Due to pressure from Jiang's regime's policy "Ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically," plus the persecution of her entire family, Ms. Sun suffered a brain haemorrhage, which resulted in paralysis. She was bedridden and not able to take care of herself. After being subjected to eight and a half years of physical torture and mental torment, Ms. Sun died on January 10th, 2010.
