  • Incarcerated for Seven Years, Practitioner Mr. Liu Sanqiang from Shaowu City, Fujian Province Is in Police Custody Again

    Mr. Liu Sanqiang, a 39-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested again around April 15th for discussing Falun Gong with his students, less than three years after serving a seven-year sentence. Mr. Liu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000 and was subsequently arrested. After his release, his factory fired him and sent people to monitor him as he went about his daily life. One day in 2001 while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, Mr. Liu was seized by police. Police brutally beat him for two days before sending him to a detention centre. Mr. Liu was then given a seven-year sentence and transferred to Minxi Prison.
  • Sisters Detained for More than Six Years in Jinan Women's Prison and in Critical Condition

    Falun Gong practitioners and sisters Qu Xiaotong and Qu Beibei were arrested in June 2004 by Tai'an City police in Shandong Province. They were later subjected to interrogation, torture, and the administration of unknown drugs. In September 2004, the sisters, along with five other practitioners, were sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-controlled Taishan District Court to terms of eight to twelve years in prison. The sisters were taken to Jinan Women's Prison.
  • Rushed to the Hospital from a Detention Centre, Ms. Yu Changli Died and Ms. Yang Shumei Was in a Coma

    On May 2nd, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yu Changli and Ms. Yang Shumei, both detained in the Nongan County Detention Centre, were rushed to hospital. Ms. Yu Changli passed away that same day. She was only 44 years old. Ms. Yang Shumei was in a coma and was closely watched by several policemen. When Ms. Yang's family went to see her on April 11th she looked frail. Her hands were purple and her feet were chained with ten kilos of iron shackles. She hardly had strength to talk. They tied her to a bed and injected her with drugs six times a day.
  • Additional Information on the Persecution of Mr. Zhao Xudong and His Family

    Mr. Zhao Xudong's entire family has been persecuted over the past 12 years by police for practising Falun Gong. Mr. Zhao died during a brutal forced-feeding session on February 5th, 2004 at the Lanzhou City Detention Centre. He was 36. His wife, Li Hongping, was arrested when handing out Falun Gong materials in 2000. In detention the division head slapped her face and put her in a pair of 15 kg shackles and bound her hands with two metal rings. During forced-feeding the guards could not get the plastic tube into her nose, so they shoved it into her mouth and purposely stirred it around in her throat and stomach, causing her to scream and writhe in agony.
  • As Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yuan Shumei Lay Dying, Prison Guards Tried to Force Her to Sign a Guarantee Statement to Give up Her Belief

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Shumei was incarcerated in Inner Mongolia No.1 Women's Prison in Hohhot in October 2001. Ms. Yuan was the first practitioner to be taken to Inner Mongolia No.1 Women's Prison. At that time the guards were very upset and everyone, from the head guard to the lowest ranking guards, monitored her. They ordered all the criminal inmates, including the head inmates and those eager to earn credit rewards, to monitor and persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Due to long-term mental persecution and high intensity work, Ms. Yuan developed stroke symptoms. The guards attempted to force her to sign a guarantee statement not to practise Falun Gong. She was tortured to death in early February 2003.
  • The Suffering of Mr. Qin Yueming and Others in Yichun City

    Mr. Qin Yueming was tortured to death in the Jiamusi City Prison on February 26th, 2011. On October 18th, 1999, Mr. Qin Yueming and other practitioners went to the district government to speak up for Falun Gong and were arrested by police and sentenced to forced labour. The torture methods used by the Yichun Forced Labour Camp staff included forcing practitioners to stand up for extended periods of time, beatings, repeated suffocating with a plastic bag over the head, and hanging practitioners up by their handcuffs. Mr. Qin was often beaten and was tortured with “tying the ropes” 12 times. Mr. Qin was later sentenced to 10 years in Jiamusi City Prison.
  • Six Falun Gong Practitioners from Faku County, Shenyang City Arrested

    Police ransacked several practitioners' homes in Yemaotai Town on April 22nd. They confiscated several computers and materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Six practitioners were arrested and held in custody. Ms. Chen Shuyan and Ms. Chen Shufang were able to escape that day. The police then arrested three family members and threatened to detain them unless they told them the two practitioners' whereabouts, and at the same time, the police listed online the two practitioners as wanted. Ms. Chen Shuyuan and Ms. Chen Shufang were arrested the next day.
  • Ms. Deng Guiqiu from Tianjin Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Deng Guiqiu from Tianjin was arrested on September 19th, 2010, when she was distributing materials detailing the persecution of Falun Gong and taken to the Hexi Detention Centre. On March 17th, the Hexi Court secretly sentenced her to three years in prison. Detention centre and court officials prohibited her from appealing. Previously in 2002, Ms. Deng was arrested at home and imprisoned at the Banqiao Women's Labour Camp for one year and forced to do hard labour.
  • Renqiu City Court in Hebei Province Repeatedly Postponed Trial of Ms. Li Aihua

    Ms. Li Aihua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Renqiu City, has been detained for more than four months. Ms. Li's case was opened at a session at Renqiu City Court on the morning of April 21st. Many of her family members, relatives and friends were not allowed to attend. In addition, before this date, the court had repeatedly changed the trial time.
  • Ms. Feng Guojun from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province Imprisoned for Nine Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Guojun was arrested on August 17th, 2002 by 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and sentenced to eleven years of imprisonment. She has been imprisoned at Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison since then. Ms. Feng was isolated for brainwashing several times in prison. Former practitioners collaborating with the prison and guards forced her to watch videotapes slandering Falun Gong and its founder. Due to the long-term torture and brainwashing, Ms. Feng lost her will little by little. Desperate to be released, she compromised with them against her will and wrote statements to renounce practising Falun Gong.
  • Ms. Li Songfang Passes Away After Release from Prison in Critical Condition

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Songfang was subjected to abuse at the Conghua Prison for Women in Guangdong until she was dying from late stage uterine cancer, renal failure, and gastrorrhagia (haemorrhage from the stomach). The prison notified Ms. Li's family to come and take her home on March 18th, 2011. She passed away on May 3rd. Shortly after the Chinese New Year in February, 2008, Ms. Li Songfang was arrested by the local police and her home was ransacked. The police confiscated some Falun Gong informational materials and over 200 yuan in cash. After three years of abuse and forced brainwashing at the prison, Ms. Li was dying.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Zhang Xue and Her Family

    I am a relative of Zhang Xue. Her mother and I have been neighbours for many years. I do not practise Falun Gong, but I have witnessed Falun Gong's wonders and magnificence manifesting in Zhang Xue's family. I have also witnessed the heinous crimes committed by the police, and the terrible behaviour of communist party officials from Qiguan Village. On January 29th, 2011 Zhang Shengyu, Deputy Party Secretary of Qiguan Village and the Fangxia Police Department broke into Zhang Xue's home and took her away. Previously, in 2005 Zhang Xue was arrested by police and detained in Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp for three years.
  • Honest Worker Zhang Yunliu Persecuted Twice in the Same Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Zhang Yunliu distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong while he was working in Beijing in March 2010. After he was arrested, he was put in a forced labour camp for a term of one-and-a half years. He has been in Hewan Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City for over a year. Not long ago, messages came from the labour camp saying that he is being cruelly tortured. This is the second time Mr. Zhang has been persecuted in Hewan Forced Labour Camp and the third time he has been detained.
  • Ms. Lu Guiqin, Persecuted in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, Now Mentally Unwell

    On December 18th, 2010, Ms. Lu Guiqin and two other practitioners were explaining the facts about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Gong in Fuxin City. They were arrested and detained in Xindi Detention Centre. Ten days later Ms. Lu was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. On March 17th, 2011, Ms. Lu Guiqi was persecuted to the point of mental disorder. Police from the forced labour camp then told her relatives to pick her up. After they arrived, Zhang Huan and others once again demanded that her relatives pay 3,000 yuan for medical treatment and used that as a condition for her release. Ms. Lu Guiqin is still mentally unwell and cannot remember or talk about the persecution she suffered at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
  • Mr. Huang Yuxuan in Critical Condition in Litang Prison; His Wife Requests Release for Medical Treatment

    Mr. Huang Yuxuan, a practitioner from Baise City, Guangxi Province, was sentenced to five years in prison in March 2008, and has been imprisoned at Litang Prison for over three years now. He is currently in critical condition. His wife requested the prison authorities release him for medical treatment, but was turned down without any valid reason. She recounts: "On September 7th, 2010, I was shocked when I saw him at the family visitation because I couldn't recognize him. He was in a wheelchair and looked extremely weak—he could hardly pick up the telephone handset. He was clearly struggling and on the verge of death. Two prison doctors stood behind him holding emergency kits in their hands. This made me scared because I couldn't stand to lose my husband."
