  • First-hand Account of Persecution Suffered in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

    On July 31st, 2008, I was studying the Falun Gong teachings and sharing experiences with over a dozen fellow practitioners. When we opened the door, over a dozen plainclothes policemen rushed in and arrested us. On August 30th, seven of us were sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. Because I would not renounce practising Falun Gong I was handcuffed to the window bars of a toilet, both of my arms forced straight. They threatened me with solitary confinement if I refused to listen to them. The next day, I could not lift my left arm, and my hands were painful and numb. They only opened one handcuff for me to eat or use the toilet. After about four days, I felt dizzy and both of my arms hurt a lot. Since May 2009, we have been forced to do hard labour for long hours, for 14 or 15 hours a day on average.
  • Severe Abuse and Mistreatment Inflicted upon Falun Gong Practitioners in Shaanxi Province Women's Prison

    Since Falun Gong practitioners began being detained at Shaanxi Province Women's Prison on December 6th, 2002, the persecution of practitioners has been escalating; from initial physical abuse, exposure to the burning sun, torture devices, and punches and kicks, to currently round-the-clock brainwashing, days of sleep deprivation, denial of toilet use, and even injections of unknown drugs.
  • For Liu Zhimei, Time Stopped Years Ago at Age 21

    Ms. Liu Zhimei's steadfastness in practising Falun Gong and becoming a better person resulted in brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2002. Right before she was released from the Shandong Province Women's Prison in November 2008, prison officials injected her with a harmful mixture of narcotics and anti-psychotic drugs. Ms. Liu suffered a sudden mental collapse and couldn't remember her correct age. Grief-stricken, her mother died three months later.
  • Facts Surrounding the Death of 60-Year-Old Mr. Lu Guanglin in Panjin City Prison, Liaoning Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Guanglin was arrested by police on March 15th, 2005, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Mr. Lu was brutally tortured. In February 2009, Mr. Lu went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. He was force-fed a concentrated saline solution. A nurse poured scalding water on Mr. Lu, which resulted in multiple burns. Also, in the dead of winter, they poured cold water on Mr. Liu, opened the window and doors, and dragged him on the floor. Several of Mr. Lu's teeth were knocked out. Over the duration of such torture, Mr. Lu was in critical condition three times, until he finally passed away in Panjin Hospital No. 2 at the end of February 2009.
  • Practitioner Zhang Yunting Forced into Homelessness and Passed Away in 2008

    49-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yunting from Dandong City passed away on August 25th, 2008. Due to the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, he was forced into homelessness, and his wife left him.One time, a banner related to Falun Gong was hung on a building in Dandong City. National security guards assumed that he had hung up the banner and arrested him. Mr. Zhang was handcuffed to a piece of heating equipment for two days and nights. He was released later due to lack of evidence. In July 2006, Mr. Zhang Yunting had extravasated blood in his brain, and was sent to a hospital by relatives. He remained bedridden and was sent to a home for the elderly in the second half of 2007.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Jiao Lili from Langzhou City, Gansu Province Persecuted

    While Ms. Jiao Lili was visiting a relative during the Chinese New Year holiday on February 24th, 2010, officers from the Police Department of Lanzhou City stormed into the house. They handcuffed her relative's hands behind her back and interrogated her. They ransacked her home and frightened her child. Ms. Jiao Lili was hiding in another room. The police found her and arrested her. They took her to the police department and tortured her. They then sent her to a detention centre. Guards slapped her about the head, bound her with handcuffs and shackles, and kept her on a "tiger bench" for 4 hours. Ms. Jiao was later sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labour camp.
  • Retired Teacher Passes Away Due to Persecution

    In 2003 Ms. Sun Xianfen, 64, was arrested and detained in Anlu City Sili Detention Centre because she continued to practise Falun Gong. Ms. Sun was abused both physically and mentally. Video cameras monitored her every move. For nearly ten months, she was given no peace and was not allowed to sleep well night or day. After she was released Ms. Sun continued to be extremely nervous and in a state of fear. She could not lead a normal life, afraid that she was being constantly monitored. Still, the police would not leave her alone; they harassed her at home repeatedly and tried unsuccessfully to have her sign documents. Ms. Sun passed away on November 23rd, 2009 after suffering years of persecution.
  • 60-Year-Old Ms. Shi Yingchun Dies in Police Custody at Liaoning Province Women's Prison

    Because Shi Yingchun, 60, practised Falun Gong, she was repeatedly arrested and incarcerated. She was sent to forced labour camps twice for a total of five years prior to 2008. On August 30th, 2008, she was arrested again and sentenced to seven years in prison. She was incarcerated at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison until her death on March 18th, 2010. When her family inspected her body following her death they found that some work had been done to conceal wounds. They could, however, still see that her ears were swollen and bruised. There were three small wounds on her hips. There were two pools of blood on her trousers. There were even bite marks on her shoulder.
  • Additional Information about the Death of 74-Year-Old Mr. Wu Botong, Tortured in Custody in Guizhou Province

    On September 11th, 2005, Mr. Wu Botong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Anshun City, Guizhou Province, died in Duyun Prison. He had only been in the prison for 5 days when he died. The death certificate listed his cause of death as "a heart problem", but Mr. Wu Botong had never had any heart problems before. He previously had some minor problems with his kidneys but no longer had these problems after he started practising Falun Gong. His family was only allowed to see his face; the prison personnel refused to allow them to examine his body. His body was then cremated without his family's permission.
  • Wife Tortured to Death, Husband in Mortal Danger

    On April 14th, 2010, practitioner Wang Kaiming was beaten unconscious at the No.4 Division of Panjin Prison in Liaoning Province. Hs family was told that he was in the intensive care unit in Panjin No.2 People's Hospital. Hospital authorities learned that he was bleeding from the brain and he was in danger of dying. Wang's wife, Yao Guilan, died in August 2009. She never recovered from the mistreatment she received at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
  • Mr. Yu Lianhe and Mr. Dong Fengshan Beaten to Death in Prison in Jilin Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Lianhe, 41, was imprisoned in the Shiling Prison in Siping City, Jilin Province on October 2nd, 2009. He died there on November 22nd. Mr. Dong Fengshan, a practitioner, was imprisoned in the Siping City Prison on October 23rd, 2008. He died there six days later on October 29th. Both practitioners had been severely beaten to death.
  • Older Practitioner Mr. Lu Jigui Dies Due to Persecution

    Mr. Lu Jigui, 58 years old, was arrested twice by local police in 2008. Mr. Lu held hunger strikes to protest during both of the detentions and was subjected to brutal force-feeding. Other inmates held him down and a tube was inserted into his nose. He suffered great pain during each force-feeding. After he escaped from custody, he could not return home and had to live on the run for his safety. Living under constant pressure and fear, his health deteriorated. He passed away on April 13th, 2010.
  • Ms. Tan Jianyang, 52, Persecuted in Changsha Women's Prison

    Ms. Tan Jianyang has been repeatedly persecuted. In 2001 she was beaten in detention. In 2002, Ms. Tan was put on trial and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and she was tortured repeatedly. She recounts: "Guards used "military training" to punish practitioners who refused to call themselves criminals. It lasted from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. Wearing military boots, the guards kicked and trampled anyone who was not doing well enough. A guard ordered me to put my feet up on a 70 cm. (28 in.) high stool and do fifty push ups. I twisted my feet and could not get up. They had me reach one hand up over my shoulder and the other one up from below, then bound my two thumbs together behind my back using a special tiny finger cuff. My thumbs were in excruciating pain."
  • Ms. Fang Baiqin Dies as Result of Persecution in Gansu Province

    Ms. Fang Baiqin was a farmer's wife. She had tuberculosis since before she was married. After cultivating Falun Gong in 1994, all her symptoms were gone. She disciplined herself according to Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, never fought with others, and she had a mild temperament. Her family members all felt she had changed into a new person after practising Falun Gong. After the persecution began in July 20th, 1999, her husband went to Beijing to speak out for Falun Gong and local police kept threatening Ms. Fang in her home and demanded money from her. Her husband was detained in a forced labour camp. The long term persecution took its toll on Ms. Fang's health and she passed away from illness on March 27th, 2010.
  • Practitioners Injected with Nerve-damaging Drugs at Baoding Mental Hospital

    Baoding Mental Hospital, also known as the Hebei Province No. 6 People's Hospital, is used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. During the last 11 years, the CCP has detained practitioners at Baoding Mental Hospital for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. At this facility, at least 24 practitioners were forcibly injected with brain-damaging drugs, causing incapacitation or death. Our of fear and self interest, doctors and nurses participate in the persecution or keep silent.
