  • Family Devastated by Years of Persecution

    Ms. Fu Yan was sentenced to thirteen years and six months in prison, and has been detained for the past ten years. On September 9th, 2010, her mother, Tong Shuping, asked a Beijing attorney to file an appeal for Ms. Fu. The Liaoning Women’s Prison refused the attorney's visit, providing multiple excuses. Prison officials subsequently escalated her persecution and confined Ms. Fu to a small room. The attorney’s licence was revoked in late 2010. Tong Shuping passed away one week later on March 5th, after she received notification that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court had rejected her daughter's appeal.
  • Tragedy Then Happiness After Losing Eyesight

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Fengxia was a beautiful and kind young lady. Now, a year after her release from a forced labour camp, she can only walk slowly while holding onto a stool and with her back bent. Her legs are extremely weak. It is not known what kind of drugs were administered to her while she was in the forced labour camp. Previously, In 2005, Ms. Zhao was taking her son to school when she suddenly lost her eyesight. No medical treatment brought her sight back. Her mother gave Ms. Zhao a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong. After looking at the text Ms. Zhao saw some fuzzy characters that gradually became clear. She suddenly realised that her eyesight was back!
  • Jiaonan Police Department Refuses Attorney's Request to Visit His Client

    The Jiaonan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) issued a formal arrest document for Ms. Zhang Shuhua on around February 26th. Her son hired an attorney for her, and on April 1st, the attorney went to the Jiaonan Police Department and requested to visit with his client. The police department refused his request, claiming that it could not be approved because the supervisor in charge was not present.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Sulan Passes Away after Enduring Years of Persecution

    Before Liu Sulan began practising Falun Gong in February 1997, she had diabetes and her whole body was swollen. She was unable to work. After practising Falun Gong, she became healthy. However, since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Li, who followed the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance was detained many times. She became homeless and she suffered tremendously, both physically and mentally. After suffering serious medical complications last year, Ms. Liu passed away on April 10th, 2011.
  • Missing: Mr. Jin Guanghong, Defence Attorney for Falun Gong Practitioners

    Mr. Jin Guanghong, a Beijing-based defence attorney for Falun Gong practitioners, has been missing for more than 10 days. According to a friend, in March 2011, Mr. Jin acted as the defence attorney for Mr. Li Tie, a human rights activist in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. At the beginning of April, Mr. Jin should have been working on the case of Falun Gong practitioners in Luoyang City, Henan Province. Mr. Jin was seen on QQ (a Chinese Internet instant messenger program) on April 8th, 2011. The location of his login was displayed as Luoyang City, Henan Province. He wasn't seen on the Internet after that. His mobile phone has also been off line. Mr. Jin's friend said he hadn't been able to get a hold of Mr. Jin since April 10th.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Hao Arrested Six Times and Sentenced to Forced Labour Twice

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Hao lives in Wuhan City. During the 12-year persecution of Falun Gong, he was incarcerated six times and sentenced to forced labour twice -- once in 2002, and the other time in 2005. In Hewan Labour Camp Mr. Wang suffered from various kinds of torture. He was forced to stand for a long time, locked up in a small confinement cell, subjected to brainwashing, and forced to do hard labour. He was forced to stand up for three, seven and nine consecutive days without sleeping. As a result he began having delusions, high fever, and blood in his urine. He could not pass stool, his legs were swollen, and his feet were infected and leaked yellow fluid.
  • Several Practitioners in Jiansanjiang District of Heilongjiang Province Sent to Brainwashing Centre

    Several Falun Gong practitioners in Jiansanjiang Farm Administration Sub-Bureau of Heilongjiang Province are being detained at the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Bao Guizhi, 58, was arrested and sent to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre on March 20th. On that morning, police waited for Ms. Bao outside of the apartment building where she lived. When they saw her coming down the stairs, they attempted to take her to the police car, but failed when Ms. Bao resisted them. At around 1:00 p.m., Ms. Bao was captured by seven or eight policemen at the supermarket. She was then sent to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre.
  • Mr. Ju Zaibin Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Ju Zaibin was often pressured by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police to give up his belief in Falun Gong, but he firmly refused. In July 2002, Mr. Ju was reported to the police and was later sentenced to three years in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. During the first four months in the camp, Mr. Ju was subjected to forced brainwashing day and night. Under a guard's instructions, an inmate kicked him viciously in the chest, which caused him to have difficulty breathing. The three years spent in the labour camp seriously affected Mr. Ju's health. His lungs were severely damaged, he had difficulty breathing and continuously coughed. He later died at the age of 38, on November 25th, 2010.
  • After Being Imprisoned for Seven Years, Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Furong from Changsha City Arrested Again

    On February 24th, 2011, practitioner Ms. Zhang Furong was arrested by police while she was posting informational materials about Falun Gong. A few hours later she was released, but, before they let her go, the police took her ID card, three bank cards, and 1,900 yuan in cash without giving her a receipt. Ms. Zhang was once sentenced to over a year of forced labour and later was sentenced to seven years in prison and detained in the Hunan Province Women’s Prison because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was detained in prison for almost nine years.
  • All Three Members of Zhang Xiufang’s Family Secretly Tried and Sent to Prison in Shanghai

    Residential Committee officials worked with national security officials to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiufang on March 4th. Ms. Zhang's husband Ying Zhiming and son Ying Yeqi had previously been arrested and detained in Tilanqiao Prison. Zhang Xiufang’s family has suffered frequent persecution by the Chinese Communist Party for being steadfast in practising Falun Gong. Now the whole family is in jail again.
  • Members of Mr. Song Zhiyu’s Family Go Missing on the Way to Attend His Trial in Inner Mongolia

    Mr. Song Zhiyu was tried in Hulunbeier City, Inner Mongolia, on April 14th. On April 12th, several members of Mr. Song's family started out for Inner Mongolia to be present at his trial. On the morning of April 13th, these family members still had contact with other family members at home. After 10 a.m. that, however, they could not be reached on their mobile phones, and their family members at home did not know where they were.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Endure Unbearable Tortures Involving Their Eyes

    Ms. Wang Yuhuan was at death's door nine times as a result of severe abuse and torture while in detention. She recounted: “After they tortured me with the "tiger bench" method for over four hours, I was close to death. They put a metal bucket over my head. Seven police officers smoked three cigarettes each and blew the smoke into the bucket for more than an hour. I choked and fainted many times. They brought me to by pouring cold water over me. Before I was completely clear-headed, they burned my eyelids with cigarette butts. The pain was indescribable.”
  • Ms. Hu Miaomiao Cruelly Tortured by Hou Junmen and Other Guards in Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp

    On June 15th, 2010, police arrested Ms. Hu Miaomiao, a Falun Gong practitioner who worked as a teacher in Zhangjiakou City Kindergarten in Hebei Province. She was sentenced to one year of forced labour and suffered torture and sexual abuse in Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province. The guards ordered an inmate to sexually abuse Ms. Hu with a broom handle. Ms. Hu couldn't walk because she was unable to open her legs nor bend them after the torture. The guards had to carry Ms. Hu to the toilet, but she couldn't squat down, and kept crying because of the extreme pain in her private area.
  • Three Falun Gong Practitioners Emaciated Due to Brutal Persecution in Jinshi Prison

    Mr. Peng Shaohui was arrested in 2006 and sentenced to seven years in prison. He was detained in Jinshi Prison. Wang Jun, the guard team leader, poured cold water on him in the winter, which soaked his clothes and turned to ice. He was tortured in this manner for more than 10 hours. The guards also instigated other prisoners to punch and kick him. In 2010, guards ordered several prisoners to force-feed him for several months. His mouth bled and he vomited blood as a result. Due to the persecution, Mr. Peng became very thin and now only weighs about 90 pounds. He was sent to a hospital and is currently still detained there.
  • 81-Year-Old Woman Placed under House Arrest after Planning to Attend a Shen Yun Performance in Taiwan

Her younger sister had arranged everything for her in Taiwan and bought her a ticket for the Shen Yun show to be presented on April 10th, 2011, in Kaohsiung. However, Ms. Nie Zhen was suddenly notified that she was forbidden to leave home.
