Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Lihua Dies as Result of Persecution

March 14th, 2009, was 61-year-old Ms. Liu Lihua's last arrest as she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The police detained her for six months in the Yantai City Developing Zone Second Detention Centre. Her husband tried to visit her many times, but was not allowed to see her. Ms. Liu was sentenced to five years in prison in a secret trial, and taken to the Jinan City Women's Prison. However, the prison refused to accept her due to her poor physical condition and she was therefore released on September 30th, 2009. Ms. Liu suffered severe mistreatment in confinement, and her health was damaged. She passed out in the toilet on the evening of January 27th, 2010, and died on the evening of January 28th in the hospital. -
Four Elderly Falun Gong Practitioners from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province Passed Away
2010-03-19Mr. Zhu Yaoming, 78 years old, started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and benefited physically and mentally. After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Zhu went to Beijing to appeal to stop the persecution. He was detained. His family was made to pay 3,000 yuan, which was deducted from his son's salary. The local officials also threatened his son that he might lose his job because his father practised Falun Gong. His family was under huge pressure and no longer supported him in practising Falun Gong. The local officials also often came to his home to harass him. Due to long term stress and pressure, Mr. Zhu could not continue with the practice and passed away in the autumn of 2008. -
The Suffering of Ms. Dai Jinheng at Detention Centres and Forced Labour Camps
2010-03-19Ms. Dai Jinheng has been steadfast in her belief and subjected to persecution many times. In July 2002, she went to Beijing to appeal, where she was arrested and detained at the Xicheng Detention Centre. The guards and inmates often beat and cursed her. She was forced to wear handcuffs and shackles and was unable to stand upright. The guards subjected her to force-feeding. Several male guards tied her to a bed and held down her hands and feet. The tube for force-feeding was inserted into her stomach through her nose. They beat and scolded her during the process and even took the tube in and out to increase her suffering. Later she was sent to the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province. -
Mr. Wang Enhui Dies in Gongzhuling City Prison in Jilin Province
2010-03-18Within less than six months after entering the Gongzhuling City Prison, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Enhui died on February 15th, 2010, the day after the Chinese New Year. His wife and daughter, both mentally disabled, are left behind with a hard life ahead of them. Mr. Wang was arrested multiple times, detained, and sent to forced labour camps, just because he wanted to become a better person through Falun Gong cultivation. In 2001, he was imprisoned in the Jiutai Forced Labour Camp for more than one year and severely tortured. He was once locked in the strictly controlled ward for 50 days and became emaciated. When he had died Mr. Wang's family rushed to the prison and saw that his body had changed colour dramatically, and his wrists had deep marks from handcuffs or ropes. -
The Recent Situation of Ms. Chen Shulan and Her Daughter Li Ying
2010-03-18Police arrested Ms. Chen Shulan, from the Changping District of Beijing, on September 16th, 2002. Ms. Chen was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, and has been held at the Tiantanghe Women's Prison in Beijing. She is scheduled to be released in a few days, on March 16th, 2010. In the summer of 2007, when Ms. Chen's father Mr. Chen Yunchuan went to visit his daughter at the prison, the prison officials denied the visitation using the excuse that he didn't present his ID card and proof from his village committee. The prison also didn't allow him to leave some clothing and money he had bought for his daughter. Mr. Chen returned home and died in a car accident in late 2007. -
Tianjin Detention Centre Force-feeds Practitioners Unknown Drugs
2010-03-18I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Tianjin. Police broke into my home on December 3rd, 2001. They arrested and took me to the Beichen District Detention Centre. I joined other practitioners held there in a persecution protest hunger strike on December 5th. The guards dragged me from the second floor to the ground floor and began force-feeding me. There was a large-size plastic bowl which contained unknown liquid drugs. The guards tied my arms and legs to a metal chair that had its base affixed to the ground. They grabbed my hair and pulled it so that my face was upward. Then, two women wearing white coats inserted a tube into my nose and began pouring whatever was in the bowl into my stomach through the tube. It felt awful. One of them said, "Don't even think about getting it out. The tube has reached the bottom of your stomach!" -
The Persecution of Ms. Han Lianfeng, Zhao Suhong and Zhao Suyan from Shouguang City, Shandong Province
2010-03-18On May 23rd, 2008, police arrested Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhang's wife and Ms. Han Following a week-long torture session at the Shengcheng Police Station, Ms. Han was transferred to Shouguang City Detention Centre. Two days after her arrival, Domestic Security Team agents went to the detention centre to interrogate her. She was restrained on a metal chair and forced to confess. Groups of officers took turns interrogating her around the clock for five days, and she was deprived of sleep. Agent Sun Chenliang used a metal pipe to hit her shoulders and back. He also punched her in the face. Another agent, Li Ruyuan, hit Ms. Han's back with his fists. Her face became bruised, her hair messed up, and her arms and back were bruised. -
Mother and Daughter, Both Hong Kong Residents, Detained for Nine Months
2010-03-17On June 4th, 2009, Hong Kong residents Ms. Li Yaohua and her daughter, Zhang Yibo, were arrested in the Xuhui District of Shanghai by personnel from the Tianlin Police Station and the local 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong]. They have been detained ever since, for a total of nearly nine months. Their case files have been sitting in the Xuhui District Court for over four months. They are still being detained in the Xuhui District Detention Centre along with other practitioners Zhang Qin, Lu Yuzhi, and Ye Ying and her daughter. -
Engineer Mr. Bao Yuanjing Abused and Tortured in the Yunnan No.1 Prison
2010-03-17The police from Yunnan Province arrested Mr. Bao Yuanjing twice, subjecting him first to two years of forced labour and then to four years of imprisonment. While being held at the Yunnan Province No.1 Prison, he was put in shackles and placed in solitary confinement for six months, and periodically shackled and handcuffed into a fixed position. He was only given two meagre meals a day. He held hunger strikes several times to protest the mistreatment but was then forcibly injected with unknown drugs. Lu Chao and Xu Yanneng ordered criminals to beat him on multiple occasions. -
Ms. Zhu Yinfang Beaten to Death in Sichuan Province
2010-03-17On April 25th, 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Yinfang was transferred from the Second Ward to the Seventh Ward in the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province. In less than 24 hours she was dead. A witness who revealed how she was beaten to death: "The guards first taped her mouth shut to prevent her from shouting "Falun Gong is great!" The prisoners who were assigned to watch her said as they handcuffed her, "If you refuse to accept the brainwashing, the only outcome is to die. Several female prisoners entered the washroom, handcuffed Ms. Zhu's wrists behind her, and punched and kicked her. She screamed the entire time. No one was allowed to enter the washroom, but all heard her cries of misery. By 4:00 p.m., prisoner Zhang Yan came upstairs to ask for Ms. Zhu's clothes since Ms. Zhu had already died." -
Firsthand Account of Persecution Suffered by a Factory Worker
2010-03-17On September 10th, 2005, police came to my home. They ransacked it. I was detained at the Dezhou City Detention Centre. Wu Zhenyuan and Zhang Xikun from the district political and protection section extorted 20,000 yuan from my family, threatening to send me to a forced labour camp if the bribe was not paid. In the detention centre, I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the tenth day of the hunger strike, they began to force feed me. Prisoner Wang Wenjuan, the detention center's doctor Jiang, and three other people made me lie down, tied my limbs to the bed, and held me down as I struggled and the doctor inserted the feeding tube. Instead of inserting the tube down my oesophagus, he inserted it into my trachea. Immediately I couldn't breathe. -
Suspicious Circumstances Surround the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Xu Chunhua
2010-03-16On February 23rd, 2010, a shepherd discovered a body in a well near Liuwentun Village and reported it to the Qilihe Town Police Station. Authorities have identified the body as that of Mr. Xu Chunhua. The cause of death is still under investigation. Mr. Xu disappeared three months ago. Someone said that he had been arrested and imprisoned at the Yi County Detention Centre. On December 28th, 2009, a family member of Mr. Xu visited the detention centre, but guards told him that no such person was in the centre. The family asked others to check for the whereabouts of Mr. Xu, and was told that, "the person practising Falun Gong was sent to a forced labour camp." -
A Bitter Experience for Mr. Cheng Jingfu, a Falun Gong Practitioner in Henan Province
2010-03-16On May 17th, 2008, Mr. Cheng Jingfu and his wife and his wife's sister were publicly distributing information about Falun Gong, and the police found out about it. Gao Feng was notified and, together with police officers, they arrested and questioned the three practitioners. They ransacked Cheng's house and took them to a detention centre. Mr. Cheng's house was ransacked three times and his personal belongings were confiscated. While he was in prison, he was beaten more than 20 times, and his family had 15,000 yuan extorted from them. Mr. Cheng was sentenced to three years of imprisonment on the last occasion, while his wife was sentenced to four years. -
Persecution of Ms. Gu Jihong and Ms. Lu Xiuli from the Putuo District of Shanghai
2010-03-16Since 1999, Ms. Gu Jihong has been repeatedly persecuted. In June 2000, she was sentenced to three years in prison. In June 2005, she was sent to a forced labour camp for a one year term. On March 1st, 2008, Ms. Gu Jianmin, Ms. Gu Jihong's sister, was arrested by police. On March 13th, 2008, she was tortured to death. On July 26th, 2008, Ms. Gu was arrested because the personnel of the Putuo 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) worried that she would appeal for justice for her sister during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. So, on November 19th, 2008, the Putuo Court sentenced her to three years in prison. -
Practitioners from Tianjin City Sentenced to Prison Terms
2010-03-16After having been detained for nearly fourteen months, practitioners from Tianjin City were secretly sentenced at Hedong detention centre by Tianjin City Hedong court in the morning of January 14th, 2010. The court did not notify any of their families. Practitioners Liu Huijiang, Yang Qingsheng were sentenced to five and four years in prison respectively. Chen Xuehui and Lu Fucheun were sentenced to four and half years. Chen Xueqi and her husband Yang Xuejun were sentenced to two years and delayed for two years. Lu Fuchun had been previously released for medical treatment. On January 14th, he was deceived into going to the Hedong detention centre and was held there. On February the 4th, the warden in Hedong detention centre extorted four hundred Yuan from his family.
