Mr. Zhang Beiqi from Jilin Province Arrested in Shandong Province After the Chinese New Year

On February 27th, 2010 Mr. Zhang Beiqi was arrested in his hometown in Shandong Province by police, because Mr. Zhang helped find an attorney to defend practitioner Li Fengyun. In the past 10 years, Mr. Zhang was detained for eight years at various places, including Yanji Labour Camp, Jiutai Labour Camp, Tonghua Labour Camp, Tiebei Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Prison, and others. Now he has been arrested once again. Du Peng defended Ms. Li Fengyun's right to practise Falun Gong. Ms. Li Fengyun also defended herself. After the court hearing, many people learned the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. -
Former President of Mingyuan Construction Research Institute Imprisoned
2010-03-23On August 2nd, 2007, Mr. Jiang Zonglin was arrested at his home by police officers from the Jinniu First Section and Fuqin Police Station. Mr. Jiang was taken to Jinniu and Xinlv Brainwashing Centre in Chengdu, and detained for nearly three months. During his detention, Mr. Jiang was subjected to interrogation by torture. In September and October 2008, Wuhou Court held trial on Mr. Jiang, and later sentenced him to five years of imprisonment. -
610 Office Intimidates High School Student for Telling Others How Falun Gong Healed His Fatal Illness
2010-03-22Sixteen year-old Qu Jianguo from Hebei Province wrote an article that was posted on the Clearwisdom.net website. In the article he disclosed that he was diagnosed with an advanced stage of bone cancer last year, and the doctor told him that there was no cure for the illness. He was nonetheless given a new lease on life after learning about and practising Falun Gong. Unexpectedly however, Baoding City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents saw the article on the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) and ordered the Laishui County 610 Office and police department to "investigate" this matter at the school where Qu Jianguo studies. It was learned that Qu Jianguo and his family were intimidated by authorities. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Pei Yi Arrested and Persecuted Twice in Tianjin
2010-03-22In January 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Pei Yi was arrested by the police in Tianjin. She was detained in the Xiqing Detention Centre for a month and then sent to Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp. In the camp, the guards forced her to sit on a small stool and face the wall from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The stool that she was forced to sit on was made from plastic and had bumps on it. Ms. Pei was required to sit upright and not allowed to close her eyes. As soon as she closed her eyes, the drug offender would poke her to prevent her from sleeping. Ms. Pei protested by going on a hunger strike and was later released. In November 2008, she was arrested again and later released after going on a hunger strike. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Cited in Gao Zhisheng Letter Dies from Torture in Custody
2010-03-22An elderly Falun Gong practitioner, who was cited as a torture victim by prominent attorney Gao Zhisheng in an open letter to China's leaders, died on January 28th due to injuries incurred in custody. Ms. Liu Lihua, 61, is the second of Gao's interviewees known to have subsequently died from abuse in custody. Gao himself has been "disappeared" by Chinese security forces since February 2009. Police detained Ms. Liu on March 24th, 2009 as she was talking about the persecution against Falun Gong in public. "During the time I was in prison, the guards employed absolutely inhumane means to torture me," Liu told Gao Zhisheng in 2005. -
The Ten-Year Persecution of Ms. Chang Shige from Changchun
2010-03-22Ms. Chang Shige has endured inhumane torture countless times during the past ten years of the persecution. Now she has been forced to leave her family and move from place to place to avoid further persecution. She describes the persecution in Teibei Detention Centre: "Due to the poor ventilation, many of us developed a contagious eczema-like disease. It first started with tiny red itchy bumps, then festered, and finally decayed. Because there were too many people in the room, it was impossible to walk around or even to stand up. I spent most of the time in a sitting position. After one week, I was hardly able to walk. In order to force us to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] the guards encouraged criminal offenders to beat us." -
Gross Abuse and Mistreatment Suffered by Falun Gong Practitioners in Suining City, Sichuan Province in 2009
2010-03-21Four practitioners died as a result of persecution in Suining City. Mr. Quan Xueyin developed lung necrosis due to brutal torture and died on March 8th, 2009. Ms. Yan Xuebi's family took her home from the labour camp on May 19th, 2008. She was extremely weak, and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials constantly harassed her following her release. Ms. Yan died the morning of March 9th, 2009. Due to abuse suffered while in custody, Mr. Zheng Fangjun could not eat and had breathing problems. He died on the morning of July 21st, 2009. Ms. Zhang Yuhua from Suining City was detained four times. The guards savagely beat her in 2003, blinding her left eye. She died on August 13th, 2009. -
Remembering Doctor Shen Yueping
2010-03-21Ms. Shen Yueping worked at the Maternity and Child Care Centre in Yunsi, Yunnan Province in July 2009. While at the Yunnan Second Women's Prison, her captors subjected her to excruciating torture that led to a perforated lung. She was then sent to the Kunming Third Hospital for treatment and died there. Ms. Shen treated people kindly. She lived a very simple life. She contributed silently to others and never showed off. I admired her wisdom and pure heart that were a result of Falun Gong cultivation. She often said, "We practitioners should be nice and cultivate our character according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance; we should become better people, not merely good people." -
Ms. Li Chunhong Arrested, Family Harassed and Tortured
2010-03-21Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Chunhong is imprisoned at the Tieling City Detention Centre. Over the past ten years of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party, her family has been repeatedly harassed. Her father and sister were repeatedly tortured under the persecution, which resulted in her sister suffering from a mental disorder. In 2006, police arrested Ms. Li. The officers subjected her to more than an hour of electric shock. As a result, Ms. Li's face and mouth were burned and distorted. They then locked her into a metal cage. After being detained at the Kaiyuan City Detention Centre for 40 days, Ms. Li was imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. -
Mudanjiang City Police Harass and Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners in the Name of the "Two Conferences"
2010-03-21Agents from the Mudanjiang City Political and Judiciary Committee and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have been harassing and arresting Falun Gong practitioners in the name of the two high-level conferences for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They directed the police department's domestic security division, along with police stations, to make the arrests. Five practitioners were confirmed to have been arrested recently as a direct result. -
Suihui City Forced Labour Camp Tortures Mr. Jiang Bingzhi to Death

In October 2008, Mr. Jiang Bingzhi was imprisoned at Suihua City Forced Labour Camp. On August 22nd, division head Pan Juying and others beat him and shocked him with electric batons. Mr. Jiang was unconscious when they carried him back to his cell. It wasn't until Mr. Jiang had been tortured into a comatose state and sent to Beian Hospital that officials from the forced labour camp notified his family that he was on the verge of death. He passed away only four days later, on August 26th, 2009. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Ying and Others Being Persecuted in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-03-20Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp detains many Falun Gong practitioners. The guards torture them and force them to do labour. The ventilation in the workshops is poor. The glue they use is poisonous. The team leader wears an anti-poison respirator while Falun Gong practitioners wear ordinary white masks. Falun Gong practitioners are deprived of sleep over a long period of time. They only sleep for five and a half hours a day. They are forced to sit on small stools and are not allowed to talk to each other. They are restricted on the times to go to the toilet. They are forced to listen to recordings that slander Falun Gong; the recordings are played very loudly. Falun Gong practitioners are tortured physically and mentally. -
Severe Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Guangyuan Prison, Sichuan Province
2010-03-20Horrendous violence against Falun Gong practitioners broke out in Prison Ward Three on March 18th, 2009. Guards and criminal inmates viciously assaulted several practitioners. Instead of punishing the offenders, the prison authorities blamed Falun Gong practitioners. This notorious violence is known as the March 18th Incident. Inmates attempted to force Mr. Ran to write the three statements renouncing Falun Gong. Mr. Ran refused, and he told these people about Falun Gong' s principles. The inmates slapped his face and punched and kicked him ferociously until he was severely injured. Mr. Ran suffered multiple injuries from the assault. They stretched Mr. Ran in an excruciating torture called "five horses splitting the body." The torture almost killed him. -
Two Female Falun Gong Practitioners in their 60s Arrested in Shenyang City
2010-03-20On the night of March 3rd, 2010, police arrested Ms. Peng Yujuan and Ms. Jin Yunzhi, in their 60s, as they distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and sent them to Shenyang City Detention Centre. It has been learned that Cai Tianzuo, head of the Domestic Security Division, is fabricating so-called "evidence," in an attempt to send the two ladies to the notorious Masanjia Labour Camp. -
Mr. Xu Linshan and Mr. Liang Jinyu Tortured to Death in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province

In 2002, Mr. Liang Jinyu was arrested by police for sharing Falun Gong articles with other practitioners. Police beat Mr. Liang so brutally that his face was disfigured, his skull was fractured, and his body was covered in blood. Mr. Liang was sentenced to ten years in Tailai Prison. In 2005, Mr. Liang had a stroke and was in critical condition. Prison officials forced his family to pay 6,000 yuan before they released him. Unable to recover from his injuries, Mr. Liang Jinyu passed away at 9:30 a.m. on February 5th, 2010.
