  • Epoch Times: US House Members Seek Answers on Transplant Abuse in China

    Approximately one-quarter of the membership of the U.S. House of Representatives has co-signed a letter asking the Secretary of State to “release any information” the department has “relating to transplant abuses in China.” Congressmen Andrews and Smith refer to “testimony implicating Chinese hospitals and doctors in the practice of forced organ harvesting from prisoners, to allegedly include from living practitioners of the Falun Gong spiritual movement, Uyghurs, Tibetans and House Christians.”
  • Prison Term to End Soon for Architectural Design Expert, Chengdu 610 Office Authorities Attempt to Interfere with His Release

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Zonglin, 64, is the former director of Sichuan Chengdu Mingyuan Institute of Architectural Design. His five-year prison term will end on October 15th, when he supposedly will be released and will be free to go home. However, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) stated that they were “still considering” whether or not to release him. Deyang Prison, where Mr. Jiang has been held for the last five years, also said that a local 610 Office official must pick Mr. Jiang up from the prison when his term ends and that they will hand him over only to a local 610 Office agent.
  • Chief Judge of Criminal Tribunal Obstructs Lawyer from Representing Falun Gong Client

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Yubao was arrested in a park by officers from the local domestic security division in May 2012. The local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) ordered officials from the local police department, Procuratorate and the courts to work together to convict Mr. Zhou. Furthermore, they were to do their best to obstruct his lawyer from submitting a plea of innocence.
  • Shandong Jiaonan 610 Office and Public Security Attempt to Unjustly Sentence Falun Gong Practitioners

    On March 6th, 2012, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Qibing was arrested for sending out Falun Gong material exposing the persecution. The police raided his home and confiscated his computer, printer, and informational materials. He is being held in Jiaonan Detention Centre. During his first hearing his family noticed that he had a problem walking. He and all the other practitioners were handcuffed and shackled. Families were not allow to visit them after their arrests.
  • Two Female Gong Practitioners in Hunan Province Sent to Prison as Court Refuses to Hold an Open Trial

    The Yuetang Court in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province disregarded the legitimate rights of Falun Gong practitioners Yao Jianping and Hu Yan. The court ignored their appeal against their first trial, as well as the requests of their attorney for a second trial. Without further legal procedures, the pair were abruptly sent to Hunan Province Women's Prison. Presently, Ms. Yao Jianping and Hu Yan are being detained in a dark room and physically abused, with their captors attempting to transform [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] them.
  • Xi'an Police Deceive Poet Mr. Tu Teng and Send Him to a Forced Labour Camp

    Three Falun Gong practitioners—the chairman of the Chinese Laurel Poets Society in Xi'an City Mr. Tu Teng, Mr. Li Xiaohui, and Ms. Xie Jing—were arrested by police on August 13th, 2012, and have since been imprisoned at the Beilin District Detention Centre in Xi'an City. The Domestic Security Division of the Beilin District Police Department deceived them and sentenced them to forced labour.
  • Guards Persecute Practitioners at Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province

    Guards at Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp have been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners for many years now. They use various torture methods to to try and get practitioners to write guarantee statements to renounce their belief. Guards who are successful in transforming practitioners can receive bonuses and get promoted. Mr. Zhang Guozhi was taken to the 1st team in May 2012. Prior to this, he had been on a hunger strike for several days to resist the persecution. Even after seeing him in poor health, the team head Zhang Guangfeng didn’t provide him with any medical treatment. Instead, he ordered Mr. Zhang to be put in solitary confinement and was force-fed by the guards and doctors.
  • Nanjing City Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zheng Zhixing, 58, Abducted Again

    Police broke into and searched Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Zhixing's home on August 22nd, 2012. They confiscated her two laptop computers, MP3 and MP4 players, Falun Gong books and other personal property, and abducted her to the police station. As soon as she got out of the police car, a policeman pushed her from behind and knocked her down to the marble floor. Several police officers grabbed her arms and legs and dragged her to the interrogation chair. Ms. Zheng was cured of breast cancer and hepatitis C through practising Falun Gong since 1995. Since the persecution was launched in 1999, Ms. Zheng has been to Beijing several times to appeal for Falun Gong, just like thousands of other practitioners who have benefited from practising. However, she was subjected to brutal persecution.
  • Older Ms. Gu Modi from Wuxi Arrested for the Ninth Time

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gu Modi, over 60, was forcibly taken from her home for the ninth time on September 28th, 2012. She was taken by police officers to the Jiangsu Provincial Brainwashing Centre in Xinghua City. During the 13 years of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution, Ms. Gu Modi has been detained three times, twice been subjected to forced labour, and sentenced and locked up at brainwashing centres four times. All of this was because of her persistence in believing in Falun Gong, and using the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a person with high morals.
  • Middle School Teacher Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison, Prosecution's “Evidence” Obtained with Threats and Deception

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bian Lichao was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Lunan district court in Tangshan, for making Shen Yun [a world-class traditional Chinese cultural show] DVDs and posters. Mr. Bian stated publicly in court that police tortured him during an interrogation so as to extract a confession. They also threatened to arrest his wife and daughter.
  • Xiao Hongming and Others Detained in Chengdu City Detention Centre

    After he was missing for four months, Falun Gong practitioner Xiao Hongming was found to be detained in the Chengdu City Detention Centre. Since he had serious high blood pressure, he was sent to hospital. Two other practitioners, Yang Yan and Li Bei, who were arrested at the same time as Mr. Xiao, were also detained in the Chengdu City Detention Centre. Currently, no organisation or person is willing to claim responsibility for arresting them.
  • Mr. Zhang Tianqi and His Wife Detained Following the Raids Surrounding the “700-Signature Petition Incident” in Hebei Province

    Mr. Zhang Tianqi and his wife, Ms. Gao Suzhen, were arrested after raids were carried out by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents starting on August 1st, in an effort to identify who posted the details of a petition signed by 700 villagers calling for the release of their Falun Gong neighbour, on the Internet. The local Procuratorate has recently approved the couple's arrest along with that of another Falun Gong practitioner. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Lankui was arrested on June 7th, 2012. After the incident was widely covered in the media, the villagers were harassed, threatened, arrested, and detained by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents.
  • Four Older Practitioners Sentenced to Prison in Jiaohe City

    Four older female practitioners were sentenced to prison and taken to the Jilin Province Women's Prison in mid-September 2012. Currently they are detained in the “education” division of the prison. Their families have not been allowed to visit them. On December 23rd, 2011, Ms. Li Shumei, Ms. Li Xuehua, Ms. Wang Xiulian and Ms. Ding Yubin went to a village to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong and were arrested.
  • Ms. Jiang Meilan, 65, from Yongzhou, Hunan Province Dies After Being Persecuted at a Brainwashing Centre

    On September 7th, 2012, polce went to 65-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jiang Meilan's home and dragged Ms. Jiang away to a brainwashing centre. Ms. Jiang was down to her last breath by late September, and was in critical condition. Her family took her out from the brainwashing centre on October 1st and took her to the hospital emergency department. Ms. Jiang passed away on October 2nd. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Jiang was imprisoned at Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou, from 2001 to 2003, where she was subjected to much physical and mental torture. Ms. Jiang was arrested in 2005 and was sentenced to one year of forced labour and sent to Baimalong Forced Labour Camp again.
  • Ms. Xu Guifang, 66, Dies after Being Detained in a Forced Labour Camp for Six Months

    Ms. Xu Guifang, 66, was incarcerated in the Shaanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp in 2012. She was very weak and lost her senses after six months of detention. She was released on September 14th, 2012. She couldn't remember how to get home and was unable to recognize her acquaintances. She died on October 3rd.
