Mr. Geng Huaipu of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Sentenced

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Geng Huaipu was arrested on April 3rd, 2009, in Tongling City, Anhui Province, by over a dozen officials and police officers. The police suspended him from the window bars by his handcuffs overnight. The next day, police transferred him to Tongling City Detention Centre. He was detained there for two months. He was then sentenced to three years in prison. Geng Huaipu had previously been persecuted twice in forced labour camps, once for two years and the second time for three years. His elder brother, Geng Huaihao; his mother; and his sister-in-law, Shi Zhonglin, have all been persecuted to death by the authorities. -

2010-05-15Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Wenguang on January 14th, 2010. The Hebei District Court tried her on April 27th. During the court session, Beijing lawyer Jin Guanghong presented a compelling two-hour defence on behalf of Ms. Jia: "My client Jia Wenguang and other practitioners of Falun Gong are all law-abiding citizens. Their practice of Falun Gong does not disrupt any implementation of the law or administrative regulations, or any public interest or the interest of others; on the contrary, they have gained physical and mental health and raised their moral standards through the practice. Their promotion of Falun Gong to others is also an indirect contribution to society. At the same time, they have become more kind-hearted and more willing to help others." -
Ms. Liu Xinru Held 9 Months on False Charges in Beijing's Fengtai District Detention Centre
2010-05-13Ms. Liu Xinru, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, has been held in the Fengtai District Detention Centre for more than nine months. On March 26th, 2010, the Fengtai District Court put her on trial and attempted to convict her of false charges. Two attorneys defended her with a plethora of evidence clearly showing that the authorities generated fake evidence to frame her. The attorneys asked for Ms. Liu's acquittal and release. -
Shenyang Court Brings Falun Gong Practitioners to Trial
2010-05-13Trials were held on April 19th - April 21st, 2010 in Shenhe District Court, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province for Mr. Wang Yuchun, Ms. Ma Guoqi, and Ms. Guo Hongyan respectively, Falun Gong practitioners from Shenyang City. On September 24th, 2009, police officers arrested Mr. Wang Yuchun at his workplace and later took him to the Shenhe District Detention Centre. On September 22nd, 2009, police took Ms. Ma to the Shenyang City Detention Centre, where she was detained for over seven months, and not allowed any visitation from her family. -
A Handicapped Elderly Woman's Defence Arguments at her Trial in Kaifeng City
2010-05-12Recently, the court in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, tried a handicapped elderly Falun Gong practitioner. The practitioner represented herself and requested that the court drop all charges and release her. Since July 20th, 1999, she has been arrested, jailed, sent to forced labour camp, imprisoned, and had money extorted from her. In July 2009, she was arrested by officers from the Longting District Police Station in Kaifeng City. Agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) took her to the Tonxu County Detention Centre and have held her there ever since. -
Police from Changsha City Torture Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-05-11Five practitioners, including Liu Peilan and Li Zhigang, were arrested by officials from the Qiaoyi Police Station on the evening of April 17th, 2010. In order to coerce confessions from them, three male practitioners were tortured for several hours by police. The police severely beat the practitioners, squeezed their throats, twisted their hands, batted at the practitioners' faces and kicked their legs. One practitioner's leg was beaten so severely that it bled continuously and copiously and the blood even flowed out of his woollen long johns. One practitioner is still currently detained at Wangcheng County Detention Centre. Officials from the Domestic Security Division have forbidden his family members to visit him, and ransacked his home. -
Mr. Dong Shaotai, Almost Seventy, Sentenced to Seven-Year Prison Term
2010-05-11On April 13th, 2010, Mr. Dong Shaotai, a 68-year-old practitioner who had been detained for more than six months, was tried in the Shuangliu County Court in Sichuan Province. Two human rights lawyers from Beijing overcame many difficulties to valiantly defend their client. In the end, the court followed the dictates of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and sentenced Mr. Dong, who had been persecuted almost to death, to seven years in prison. In reality the outcome of the trial had been decided long before the trial began. -
Ms. Wang Sulan from Tangshan City Secretly Sentenced to Nine Years of Imprisonment in Beijing
2010-05-11Ms. Wang Sulan, a 48-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Tangshan City, Hebei Province was arrested in Beijing in 2009 by police officers, and then was secretly sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. Ms. Wang is currently detained at Hebei Women's Prison. Since 1999, Ms. Wang has been subjected to having her home ransacked, brainwashing and detention. -
Ms. Ye Qiaoming and Her Son Threatened by the Fuzhou City 610 Office, Forcing Them to Dismiss Their Lawyers
2010-05-06Police officials from the Fuzhou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Domestic Security Division threatened Falun Gong practitioner Ye Qiaoming and her 18-year-old son, forcing them to dismiss the defence lawyers they had hired. Cangshan District Court cancelled the original hearing and rescheduled it for the morning of April 9th. Ms. Ye was not represented by a defence attorney. -
Ms. Jiang Xinbo from the Jiansanjiang Area of Heilongjiang Province Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
2010-05-06On September 10th, 2009, Ms. Jiang was distributing Falun Gong DVDs at the Qianjin Farmer's Market when she was arrested by police. She was taken to Jiansanjiang Detention Centre, where the deputy chief of the detention centre, Ji Qian, savagely beat her. In January 2010, the Jiansanjiang Area Court of Heilongjiang Province sentenced Ms. Jiang Xinbo, a Falun Gong practitioner, to four years in prison but didn't notify her family until March. Ms. Jiang was taken to the Harbin City Women's Prison in Heilongjiang Province. -
Shang Xiaodong, Yin Jun and Zhang Fengqin in Changchun City Sentenced to Forced Labour
2010-05-04On March 5th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Shang Xiaodong, Ms. Yin Jun, Ms. Zhang Fengqin, and Ms. Yao Meiling, were arrested by police officers from the Changchun City Public Security Bureau and Nanguan Branch. The following day they were taken to the Third Detention Centre in Changchun City. A month later, the practitioners were then sentenced to forced labour without their families being notified. The police did not give their families any documents and did not allow them to visit. -
Chen Guang and Yan Hongen Sentenced by Huantai County Court
2010-05-04In May 2009, two Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities while distributing Falun Gong distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. One of them gave out Ms. Chen's name under cruel interrogation. On May 12th, 2009, personnel from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) arrested Ms. Chen in her home and also confiscated personal property including 60,000 yuan. The total loss was about 300,000 yuan. Then, in April 2010, after about one year's detention and persecution, the Huantai County Court gave Ms. Chen a seven-year prison sentence. -
Mr. Chen Jizhong and Ms. Chen Jihuan Sentenced to Prison in Heilongjiang Province
2010-05-03Mr. Chen Jizhong, 69, and his younger sister, Ms. Chen Jihuan, 56, have been arrested and had their homes searched by police officers from Yilan County. Both brother and sister have recently been secretly sentenced by the Yilan County Court. Mr. Chen Jizhong has been sentenced to six years in prison, and Ms. Chen Jihuan to four years in prison. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Mr. Chen has been arrested five times, and was held at the Lianjiangkou Prison in Jiamusi City for five years. Ms. Chen was previously sentenced to three years of forced labour, despite her legs being disabled. -
Ms. Liu Zhimei and Her Caregiver Ms. Gao Chunhong Arrested
2010-05-03Ms. Liu Zhimei was admitted by Tsinghua University with the highest entrance score in Shandong Province. Because she persisted in her practice of Falun Gong, she was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment and suffered a mental collapse. The prison administration injected her with unknown drugs before her release in 2008, causing her to suddenly become insane three days after arriving home. Ms. Liu and several local Falun Gong practitioners who have been taking care of her were arrested in April 2010. -
Two Sisters from Tangshan City Secretly Sentenced
2010-05-02Ms. Wang Xiuwen and Ms. Wang Xiuqin, who had been arrested six months ago by police while they were distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong in a market were secretly sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment. Officers from the Xiaoji Township Police Station ransacked their home on January 21st and abducted their sister, Ms. Wang Xiuli. They threatened Wang Xiuli to prevent her from hiring a lawyer or requesting the release of her sisters.
