  • Changsha City Court Sentences Ms. Song Fangming to Three Years in Prison without Evidence

    On September 28th, 2009, police broke into Ms. Song Fangming's mother's home. They arrested Falun Gong practitioner Song Fangming, her mother Zou Guihua, who is blind, and their maid. They also confiscated two cars on their property. The maid was released on the same day. Zou Guihua was not released until fifteen days later. Ms. Song, however, was prosecuted by the Tianxin District Procuratorate for crimes she didn't commit and sent to a detention centre in Changsha City.
  • Lawyers for Qitaihe City Practitioners Defend Their Innocence During Trial

    A dozen police officers arrested six practitioners on September 22nd, 2009. Among them, Li Fengbo suffered late stage lung cancer as a result of the persecution and was released. On April 1st-2nd, 2010, the Qitaihe City Xinxing District Court tried the practitioners. Two attorneys defended two of the practitioners. When Qitaihe City authorities learned that the practitioners' families had hired attorneys to defend them in court, they immediately reported it to the Beijing Law Enforcement Bureau, which in turn pressured the law firms, attempting to force them not to defend the practitioners' innocence, but instead to plead only for reduced punishment. The authorities also harassed the attorneys with threatening telephone calls.
  • Attorney Wang Zhansuo and His Son Detained for Over 30 Days

    On the night of March 4th, 2010, Qingdao attorney Wang Zhansuo and his family were arrested. At present, his wife Song Jiling has high blood pressure as a result of the persecution. She was allowed to return home, but is being monitored there. Wang Zhansuo and his son Wang Xia are being held at the Huangdao District Detention Centre. The Huangdao District Judicial Bureau has put pressure on local attorneys, not allowing anyone to defend Wang.
  • Fuzhou City Police Break into Ms. Huang Meiying's Home in the Middle of the Night and Take Her into Custody

    Ms. Huang Meiying and her family were sleeping around 1:00 a.m. on April 8th, 2010 when they were suddenly awakened by a violent knocking on the door. They were greatly astonished and saw a group of people led by officers Li Feng and Huang Yuhong from the Gulou District Police Department No.1 Section break into their home. The police proceeded to arrest Ms. Huang and took her straight into custody. Officer Li Feng arrested her under the guise that Falun Gong materials were found in that family's quarters.
  • Two Older Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Men Hongfen and Ms. Yu Guixiang from Penglai City, Shandong Province Arrested

    On April 7th, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Men Hongfen, 68, and Ms. Yu Guixiang, 63, went to the Daxindian Township Flea Market to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. While there, they were arrested by plainclothes officers from the Township Police Station. They have been repeatedly arrested and persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party because they refuse to give up their belief in Falun Gong. Since 2005, Ms. Men and Ms. Yu have been arrested three times each, and Ms. Yu has been detained at a forced labour camp twice. Currently, the whereabouts of Ms. Men Hongfen and Ms. Yu Guixiang are unknown.
  • Family of Three Falun Gong Practitioners from Changqing Township, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province Arrested

    On February 17th, 2010, a dozen police went to the home of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Hongwei. The officers pounded on the door, attempting entry. Mr. Shi Hongwei, his wife, and his daughter were all asleep at the time, while Mr. Shi Fengling, the elderly father of Mr. Shi Hongwei, was awake. The officers climbed over the outside fence and broke into their yard. As soon as they entered the home, they beat the elderly man and then asked him whether his family practised Falun Gong. The officers claimed that they received a report that his family owned a computer and printer used to print Falun Gong materials. The police arrested all three and detained them at the Jiaxi Detention Centre.
  • Elderly Woman Faces Another Trial After Serving a Three-Year Prison Sentence

    Ms. He Suzhen, 70, was taken into police custody more than two months ago. She suffers from serious high blood pressure. She just returned home after serving a three-year prison sentence. Officials are planning to bring Ms. He to trial once again. Ms. He's 74-year-old husband has been to the local police department every day to demand his wife's release, but to no avail. He wholeheartedly respects his wife's belief, because he witnessed how she recovered completely from being almost blind because she practises Falun Gong. He also saw that, during the 14 years since his wife started the practice she has not needed any medicine, which means that she has saved a large sum of money for her employer, their family, and the country.
  • Mr. Yang Zhanjiu Arrested and His Wife Beaten to Death in Yushu City, Jilin Province

    On March 5th, 2010, Mr. Yang Zhanjiu and his father-in-law were arrested and then interrogated by the Yushu City's domestic security division. On the same day, the police, who waited inside Mr. Yang's home, also arrested two other practitioners who went to visit him. Mr. Yang's wife, Ms. Li Shuhua, was brutally tortured to death in a detention centre seven years ago. Those responsible are still at large.
  • Older Sister Persecuted to the Point of Mental Disorder--Younger Sister Arrested

    Ms. Li Chunlan, a Falun Gong practitioner in Tieling City, Liaoning Province, has been arrested and sent to a forced labour camp three times. She was persecuted to the point of a mental disorder at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp and has not been able to take care of herself since. Ms. Li Chunhong, her younger sister, was recently arrested and sent to Masanjia.
  • Ms. Zhu Qiuling Sentenced to Prison; Mr. Chen Yinru Awaiting Trial

    Officials from Wuzhong District Court sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Qiuling to five years in prison in the afternoon on April 2nd, 2010. Two defence attorneys and their bags were searched before they could enter the courtroom. They were not allowed to touch upon certain issues, which were pre-determined by the Chinese Communist Party. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Yinru is currently being held at Suzhou City No.1 Detention Centre, awaiting trial in the Huqiu District Court.
  • Mr. Lei Jingxiong, Who Was Almost Cremated Alive, Is Arrested Again

    On June 28th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Lei Jingxiong was arrested by a policeman at the airport when he was on his way to a new job. Later, he was sent to the Xishui County Detention Centre. In 2010, Mr. Lei's family received a notice from Douyun Prison indicating that Mr. Lei had been sentenced to 8 years in prison. During the past ten years of persecution, Mr. Lei Jingxiong has been constantly harassed and tortured by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In 2004, police had seemingly beaten Mr. Lei to death. As his body was about to be cremated in a funeral home, an officer discovered he was still alive and stopped the cremation. Mr. Lei was taken to a hospital, where he was again beaten. All the beatings caused his face to become disfigured.
  • Ms. Teng Weiqiang Has Been Imprisoned for Eight Years for Hanging Up a Banner

    Mr. Teng Weiqiang, 33, was arrested for displaying a Falun Gong banner in February 2002 and then sentenced to ten years in prison. During his detention at the Baishan City Police Department, officers hung him up and covered his head with several plastic bags to choke him. He is currently imprisoned in Gongzhuling Prison. As a result of many years of torture, he looks like skin and bones. Guards repeatedly denied requests from his family to visit him and it has been four years since his mother has seen him.
  • Ms. Huang Songdong from Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province Arrested and Her Family Blackmailed

    Ms. Huang Songdong, over 60, was sent to Nanchang Women's Forced Labour Camp for talking to people about Falun Gong. On March 5th, 2010, Ms. Huang was arrested, and she was only released after her son was blackmailed for 20,000 yuan. Ms. Huang was subjected to one and a half years of forced labour on March 11th, and was sent to Nanchang Forced Labour Camp. However, she was rejected for health reasons.
  • Eyewitness Account: Police Shoot at and Violently Arrest Older Practitioner Guo Yumin

    I am a good friend of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Yumin. On July 9th, 2009, I personally witnessed Mr. Guo Yumin being arrested and shot at by officers from the Tiefeng District Police Department. They forced open the door of Guo's home and beat him savagely. They also beat his wife. Guo escaped the grasp of the police. One officer aimed his gun at him. Guo's daughter jumped on this policeman, disregarding the danger, and cried, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" The gunshot was fired but missed the target. Everyone considers Guo a good person. But because of his belief in Falun Gong, he was arrested, shot at, savagely beaten, cruelly tortured, and detained by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials.
  • Yinchuan City: Wife Sentenced to Four Years in Prison, Husband Serving Eight Year Sentence for Practising Falun Gong

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shan Jining was recently sentenced to four years in prison. Her husband, Mr. Wang Desheng, was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2005. On October 17th, 2009, Ms. Shan was reported to the authorities while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. After being held at the Yinchuan City Detention Centre for several months, she was secretly sentenced to four years in prison. She is currently detained at Yinchuan City Women's Prison.
