  • Shandong Practitioner Ms. Liu Jing Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jing on October 18th, 2011. She was held in Jining Detention Centre. On April 10th, 2012, Jinxiang Town Court had a hearing on her case, but her family was not allowed to attend or hire a lawyer. In the end the court announced that it would have a re-trial due to lack of evidence. On August 23rd, the court secretly sentenced Ms. Liu to eight years. Her family thought she was still in Jining Detention Centre until they received a call from Jinan Women's Forced Labour Camp in September.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Li County, Hebei Province Sent to Labour Camp

    O n April 23rd, 2012, police arrested four Falun Gong practitioners in several locations. Without any legal process, Wu Ruixiang and Li Ergang were immediately sent to Handan Forced Labour Camp, Xie Aman and Xie Hongcai to Hebei Women's Forced Labour Camp; and Xie Hongcai was sent home because she was showing symptoms of illness. Police ransacked Xie Aman's home and confiscated a large quantity of Falun Gong materials. Xie Aman became healthy and good-tempered after she began practising Falun Gong.
  • Ms. Luo Xuemei, 63, from Xiangtan County Arrested for Distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs

    When Ms. Luo Xuemei, a Falun Gong practitioner, was on her way to visit a coworker on the morning of August 23rd, she was stopped and searched by policeman Liu Xiaohua. Liu did not have a search warrant and found Shen Yun [a world-class traditional Chinese cultural show] DVDs in her bag. She was then taken to the Shuyuanlu Police Station, and was released the next day. While Ms. Luo was detained, a dozen officers from the Xiangtan City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), broke into her house. They had to force open three steel doors to get into her house and then ransacked it without a search warrant. An agent from the 610 Office threatened to take Ms. Luo to a psychiatric hospital and torture her.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Xu Daoming Sentenced to Prison by Shantou City Court, Guangdong Province

    On January 12th, 2012, a Shantou City Court judge charged innocent Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Daoming with “Sabotaging law implementation through using a cult”, and sentenced him to one year and three months in prison. This false charge was fabricated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in order to deceive citizens who don’t know the truth about Falun Gong. Mr. Xu is kind to others and never fought or competed for personal gain.
  • Unscrupulous Judge: Tears Up Practitioner's Petition for Appeal, Slaps the Defence Attorney in the Face

    Lawyer Mr. Wang Quanzhang pleaded not guilty for Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Miao Fu in June this year. In view of Miao Fu having been tortured to extort a confession, he asked the court to invoke the "illegal evidence exclusion procedure.” Unexpectedly, this triggered roars from Judge Wang Chuanfa from the Dongning County Court. On August 31st, 2012, when Wang Quanzhang went to the detention centre to handle Mr. Miao Fu’s appeal matters, he met Wang Chuanfa. This time Wang Chuanfa even rushed forward and slapped Wang Quanzhang in the face.
  • Ms. Liu Jingmei from Yishui County, Shandong Province Arrested Again after Years of Persecution

    On August 24th, 2012 Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jingmei was arrested by a group of police officers. They took away Ms. Liu's computers, TV set-top boxes and many of her personal belongings. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Liu has been arrested by local officials and police officers several times because she persisted in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The first time she was arrested, the authorities tried to force her to give up her belief. Officials made her stand in the sun with her nose touching a wall, and both her arms held straight out. They put bricks on her hands and deprived her of sleep for three days and nights. In addition, they extorted 3,000 yuan from her.
  • Mr. Chang Shi's Entire Family Arrested in Jilin City; Wife's Life in Danger

    Mr. Chang Shi, his wife and their 19-year-old daughter were arrested on August 9th, 2012, by police. The police ransacked their home, confiscated their valuables, including cash, and left their home unlocked. Mr. Chang was then sent to the Jilin City Detention Centre, while his daughter, Ms. Chang Huiying, was incarcerated in the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre. His wife, Ms. Zhang Jingdong, was severely persecuted in police custody, requiring emergency rescue. She was then sent to Changchun Forced Labour Camp despite being in critical condition.
  • Retired Nurse Ms. Zhang Feng'e, 55, from Zhongwei City Sentenced

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Feng'e from Zhongwei City was sentenced in May 2012 to three years and six months in prison, and is held at the Yinchuan Women's Prison in Ningxia. The communist regime has persecuted Ms. Zhang numerous times for practising Falun Gong. In September 2001, the Ningxia Wuzhong City Forced Labour Board of Management trumped up a charge of “disturbing social order” and sentenced her to two years and six months of forced labour. On March 15th, 2009, the Zhongwei City Domestic Security Team charged her with “undermining law enforcement” and detained her for more than a month before releasing her on bail pending trial.
  • Police in the Wanzhou District in Chongqing Arrest and Persecute Two Women in Their 60s

    On June 19th, 2012, police officers arrested and persecuted Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tan Jiafen and Ms. Zhang Tingzhen, who are both in their 60s. Ms. Tan was sentenced to one year of forced labour and taken to Chongqing City Women’s Forced Labour Camp, without being charged with any crime. Ms. Zhang was forced to become homeless.
  • Mr. Liu Wenping from Wuhan City Arrested, Family Denied Visitation

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Wenping was arrested in August 2012 and sent to Hubei Province Brainwashing Centre. His family has tried to visit him but were rejected repeatedly by the related Chinese Communist Party (CCP) branches. Mr. Liu's wife went to the Domestic Security Division and asked to see her husband. The director told her that it was against the law to practise Falun Gong and that she was not allowed to see her husband. Mr. Liu's wife pointed out that practising Falun Gong was not against the law and said, “You don't have any legal documents. How can you arrest people without any legal papers?” The director could not answer her and could not show her any legal document for Mr. Liu's arrest.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Shenyang, Liaoning Province Arrested, Sent to Labour Camp

    Four female Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by police on July 19th, 2012. The practitioners' families went to the Xinchengzi Street Police Station and demanded their release, but their request was denied. Chen Min and Niu Guihua were taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp on August 22nd. Chen Min was sentenced to forced labour for fifteen months and Niu Guihua for eighteen months. Because Niu Guihua did not pass the physical exam, she was rejected by officials of the forced labour camp and returned home on August 24th.
  • Jia Zhijiang and Wife Li Rongmei Arrested, Their Young Son Now on His Own

    The parents of 14-year-old Jia Shuo, an elementary school student, were both arrested by the police in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. Jia Shuo's parents are both Falun Gong practitioners. The couple followed the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and never did anything illegal. On the day Jia Zhijiang was arrested, Jia Shuo cried to the police, “My dad is a good person. He didn't steal, he didn't rob, and he didn't kill or commit arson. Why are you doing this to him?” In 2008 during the Olympics, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) conducted massive arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Jia and his wife were both detained. Ms. Li was detained in a forced labour camp for one year and Mr. Jia was forced to leave home.
  • Jiamusi Practitioner Liu Jie Arrested, Property Stolen by Authorities while Family Was Reporting Her Missing

    On July 24th, 2012, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jie suddenly disappeared and was missing for three days. Her family looked for her everywhere and reported her disappearance to the local police station. The police searched and ransacked her home instead of helping her family find Ms. Liu. Authorities told her family that she had been arrested and was being held in the detention centre.
  • Ms. Lei Guiling Arrested Again Years of Severe Physical Abuse and Torture

    Ms. Lei Guiling was arrested on August 3rd, as she distributed Falun Gong DVDs. Police took her to the police station and ransacked Ms. Lei's home. She was eventually sent to Linyi City Detention Centre on the afternoon of August 4th. Previously in 2000, Ms. Lei Guiling and her husband were tortured brutally by police. Police slapped her face viciously. Ms. Lei's head was buzzing and she saw stars in front of her eyes. She also could not hear anything for quite a while. One night, Liu Xingshi hit the couple so hard that they fell to the floor. Then nine thugs beat them with wooden sticks for a long time. The couple's clothes were soaked in blood and they were in unbearable pain. After torturing the couple for over ten days, the police also extorted 8,000 yuan from them.
  • Ms. Zhao Chunxia Arrested, Her Two Daughters and Son Detained for Protesting the Persecution

    Three children were walking along the busiest street in Lindong Town, on August 14th, wearing banners which read, “I Want my Mum Back, I Want to Eat,” and held placards which read, “My Mum was Arrested by Police for Practising Falun Gong, My Dad's Whereabouts are Unknown, Our Money was Taken, and We are Homeless.” The three children included Ms. Zhao Chunxia's two daughters. They walked straight to the Balinzuo Banner government building. Police dragged them to a room. They were detained and were not given any water or food.
