Hebei Province: Four Locals File Complaints Against 610 Office Head and Court Officials

Four Sanhe City, Hebei Province, residents recently filed complaints against the head of the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and court officials for sentencing them to prison on trumped-up charges and interfering with their appeals. The three men and one woman, who all practise Falun Gong, were sentenced on November 5th, 2015, after five hearings riddled with violations of legal procedure on the part of the police, the court, and the procuratorate. -
Eight Jilin Residents Sent to Brainwashing Facility, One Remains Detained
2016-01-13As the year of 2015 was winding down, authorities in Tonghua, Jilin Province sent eight local residents to Xishan Brainwashing Centre in an attempt to force them to give up their belief in Falun Gong. While seven of the arrested were released by late December, Ms. Zhao Guihua was later transferred to a detention centre, where she remains at the time of writing. -
Woman from Inner Mongolia Severely Tortured During 6 Arrests and 8 Years of Incarceration
2015-09-16Ms. Cui Cuixia has been arrested six times by the Chinese authorities because she refused to renounce her faith in Falun Gong. Since 1999, she has spent eight years and eight months in prisons, labour camps, and detention centres. She is currently serving a four-year prison term that ends in April 2016. She has endured brutal torture along the way. -
The Ruthless Behaviour of Beijing Police
2015-09-16Ms. Chen Yuqing and her daughter, both Falun Gong practitioners, were awakened around midnight by banging at their door and shouts that their house was on fire. There was no sign of a fire however, so they did not open the door. Yang Jinlong and other officers from the Shuguang Police Station then broke down the door and arrested Ms. Chen and her daughter. This occurred on July 19th, 2015. -
Practitioners Persecuted for 18 Hours Daily in Haikou Brainwashing Centre
2015-06-28Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaobo was arrested at work and taken to a brainwashing centre on May 8th, 2015, where staff deprive him of food and beat him until they broke his left arm. The police tried to brainwash him for about 18 hours daily. There were about 10 practitioners there at the time of his arrest. -
70-Year-Old Man Arrested for the 9th Time for His Belief
2015-06-2870-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shanming was recently arrested for the ninth time. He was taken into police custody on the evening of May 12th for putting up stickers with messages that said “Falun Gong is good” in public. His home was ransacked, and he is being held at the Zhucheng City Detention Centre. Because of his belief, the local police and Communist Party officials have targeted him since the persecution of Falun Gong began. He has been repeatedly arrested and unjustly detained. His most recent arrest marks the ninth time in the past 16 years. -
Daughter of Canadian Citizens Groped During Force-feeding, Given 4 Years for Seeking Release of Wrongly Imprisoned Falun Gong Practitioner
2015-06-28Ms. Chen Yinghua from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province was recently sentenced to 4 years in prison, about 13 months after her arrest for seeking visitation of a cousin imprisoned for his spiritual belief in Falun Gong. The 40-year-old daughter of a Canadian couple revealed to her lawyers during a meeting in May that she was repeatedly groped by a doctor named Li Yong during a brutal force-feeding session. She also sustained internal and external injuries as a result of other physical abuses. -
Nine Arrested on Suspicion of Putting Up Posters Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong
2015-05-19The police in Shenyang, Liaoning Province arrested nine local residents on April 13th, claiming they were caught on surveillance video putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong between late August and early September last year. The practitioners were beaten and force-fed hot chilli pepper water when they denied the police's allegation. Mr. Qi Xiangyang in particular was left with bruises all over his chest and back, and the swelling didn't subside even after ten days. He was further force-fed when he went on a hunger strike to protest the torture and detention. -
845 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Shandong Province in 2014
2015-03-14In 2014, the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong entered its 15th year unabated. According to data compiled by Minghui.org, a total of 6,415 practitioners were arrested last year across China, with Shandong Province topping the list with the most arrests. In 2014, there was continued evidence of blood samples forcibly taken from Falun Gong practitioners in Shandong Province. As the authorities often refused to offer a legitimate reason, many of the concerned practitioners suspected their blood samples were to be used for matching transplant patients with unwilling donors like them. It came to light in 2006 that the communist regime harvests organs from living imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners for profit. -
Seventy-Year-Old Sentenced to Prison for Refusing to Renounce Falun Gong
2015-02-24“Given your age, we'll release you if you sign the repentance statement” [promising to stop practising Falun Gong], the judge told 70-year-old Mr. Zhou Chuanye at his trial. Mr. Zhou was arrested on April 22nd, 2014, for practising Falun Gong. He was tried at Shahekou District Court. Because he hadn't broken any laws, Mr. Zhou did not sign the statement renouncing Falun Gong. He instead challenged the indictment, and told the court that Falun Gong is great. However, Mr. Zhou was sentenced to three years in prison. -
Former Police Chief Sentenced to 6 Years as Wife Finishes 3-Year Imprisonment
2015-02-24Fifty-three-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Zhongxuan was arrested last September after three years of living away from home to avoid police harassment. Denied legal representation, he was sentenced to six years this February without his family's knowledge. His wife had been released from a three-year term of imprisonment only a few months earlier. -
Wuhan Police Arrest, Beat Eight Falun Gong Practitioners Studying at Home
2014-12-23Eight Wuhan residents were reading Falun Gong books in a private home when police broke into the apartment through a bathroom window and arrested them. Police also assaulted the practitioners while ransacking the apartment. Officers tortured the Falun Gong practitioners at the police station in an attempt to force them to renounce their beliefs. Three of the practitioners are now hospitalized; the others are held in two detention centres. -
Three Women Sentenced to Prison for Reading a Book Together; Defence Lawyer Demands Acquittal
2014-12-23Three Falun Gong practitioners, Liu Rong, Guo Youzhi and Jiang Hai, were tried for a second time at the Dongchuan District Court in Kunming on December 4th, 2014. Their “crime” was reading the Falun Gong book Zhuan Falun together. The practitioners were charged with “using a cult organization to sabotage law enforcement,” a trumped-up accusation commonly used by China's legal system to persecute Falun Gong. Eight days later, the court sentenced Liu Rong to three years in prison. The other two practitioners were also given three years, with a five-year probation. -
83-Year-Old Woman to Face Trial for Using Bank Note Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong
2014-12-23Eighty-three-year-old Ms. Kang Yinzhi was arrested on February 14th this year for paying for groceries with a bank note printed with messages exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. She exhibited symptoms of a stroke and passed out during interrogation the night of her arrest at the Neijiang City Detention Centre. The Zhongqu Court informed Ms. Kang of her upcoming trial on December 25th. Ms. Kang was indicted with a charge of “using a cult organization to sabotage law enforcement,” a pretext commonly used by the Chinese Communist Party to frame and sentence Falun Gong practitioners. -
Handicapped Practitioner Sentenced to Seven Years
2014-11-30When Mr. Gong Ziliang, who is handicapped, went to Beijing to appeal for his right to earn a living as a pedicab driver and to have his pedicab returned, he was arrested for practising Falun Gong. He was secretly sentenced to seven years in Qi County Prison.
