Macheng County Woman Arrested, Interrogated and Held in Forced Labour Camp

During the past ten years, Ms. Xiang Jinping has been repeatedly persecuted because she persists in her belief in Falun Gong. In 2006, she was arrested and her home was searched by police. In the police station, she was interrogated. She was sent to the Railway Detention Centre, where she was repeatedly punched, kicked and slapped in the face. She was interrogated and forced to press her finger on and sign documents. One night, a guard saw that Ms. Xiang was practising the Falun Gong exercises. As a result, she was not allowed to eat the next four meals. Later on, she was sent to the Hubei Women's Forced Labour Camp. -
Two Women in Bangbu City Sent to Forced Labour Camp for Explaining the Facts of Falun Gong to a Taxi Driver
2009-12-29Ms. Wang Ping and Ms. Duan Genhua were detained at the local police station and sent to a forced labour camp simply for talking to a taxi driver about Falun Gong on January 13th, 2009. They were transferred to the Second Detention Centre. Ms. Duan went on a hunger strike to protest her detention. Ms. Wang protested her detention by refusing to do forced labour or wear the prison clothing. Ms. Wang was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour, while Ms. Duan Genhua received one year and three months. Both have since been transferred to the Women's Forced Labour Camp of Anhui Province. -
Honest Judge Ms. Li Mei Framed by the Hefei Court
2009-12-28A trial was held on December 8th, 2009, in the Yaohai District Court in Hefei City, charging Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Mei, a former judge of the Hefei Intermediate People's Court in Anhui Province. During the trial process, Ms. Li's defence lawyer Cheng Hai pointed out many violations by the Yaohai District Court. At this public trial, the Yaohai District Court openly violated the law. From the case filing procedure to the trial process, the court showed many loopholes and inconsistencies. -
Practitioners Arrested and Harassed by Mudanjiang Railway Police Department
2009-12-28The Railway Police Department issued orders to the Harbin Railway Police Department to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The Mudanjiang Railway Police Department immediately got to work. When they were asked whether they could meet the goal of arresting six practitioners, Sun Haibin, director of the Domestic Security Division, said yes. During the past few months, officers from the Mudanjiang Railway Police Department have arrested and harassed practitioners regularly, completely disrupting their daily lives. -
74-Year-Old Mr. Peng Chuhao Arrested in Loudi City, Hunan Province
2009-12-27On December 2nd, 2009, police arrested 74-year-old Mr. Peng Chuhao, who was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in Xingzipu Town. Later that night, the police sent him to the Louxing Domestic Security Division in Loudi City. Previously in 2005 police arrested Mr. Peng when he was distributing Falun Gong materials and sentenced him to a three year term. In 2007, Mr. Peng was arrested again and escaped, but had to leave home to avoid further persecution. During the two years when Mr. Peng Chuhao was homeless, police went to his family, his children's families and his relatives to look for him. Because of the harassment by the police, the lives of these families were severely disturbed. -
Ms. Wang Yan and Mr. Wang Yuchun from Shenyang City Arrested
2009-12-25On December 9th, 2009, Ms. Wang Yan, 54, was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Officials from the Dongta Police Station in Dadong District arrested her, and detained her at the Shenyang City Detention Centre. It has been more than ten years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. During this period, Ms. Wang Yan was detained on various occasions. -
Retired Doctor Ms. Guan Yong'e Sentenced to Three Year Prison Term
2009-12-25In November 2008, police officers arrested Ms. Guan Yong'e, a retired doctor. She was arrested because she had a firm faith in Falun Gong and distributed leaflets exposing the persecution and told people the facts about Falun Gong to people in the township. After Ms. Guan was detained in the detention centre for a long time, she trembled all over and fainted often. Sometimes she fell down in a deadly faint because of serious headaches. In court, there was no lawyer to defend Ms. Guan. She defended herself on the grounds of innocence. On September 18th, 2009, the Intermediate Court in Changde City sentenced Ms. Guan to a three year prison term and later the appeal court sustained the original verdict. -
Mr. Lu Zhiyong Arrested Again in Sichuan Province
2009-12-24On September, 20th, 2009, Mr. Lu Zhiyong visited his mother in Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province. On his way home, he was arrested by the officers who had been following him. The officers beat Mr. Lu so badly that he slipped into a coma on the spot. Mr. Lu remained in a coma for two days. There is rumour that the case has been sent to the Heishui County court, which may hold a trial for Mr. Lu. Previously, Mr. Lu was arrested in June 2001 and sent to forced labour and in December 2004, when he was again imprisoned at the Xinhua Forced Labour Camp for three years. He was tortured and forcibly administered unknown drugs in the camp. -
Mr. Yu Kaixin and His Wife, Ms. Tan Shunbi, Face Sentencing
2009-12-23On November 18th, 2009, Mr. Yu Kaixin and his wife, Ms. Tan Shunbi, were arrested by the Jinsha Police Station while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They are being detained in the Pi County Detention Centre. Police officers threaten that they will be sent to prison. Their family now feels great pressure to pay the bribes the officials demand. -
Mr. Gao Yuguang from Shenma Corporation in Henan Province Persecuted
2009-12-22Mr. Gao Yuguang was arrested again on July 23rd, 2008 and officials from the Ministry of National Security charged him with distributing emails with Falun Gong contents on the Internet. Police officers arrested him. On January 16th, 2009, he was tried at the Zhanhe District Courthouse in Pingdingshan City but was not allowed to have any lawyers present to appeal for him nor were any visitors allowed in the courtroom. Currently, the whereabouts of Mr. Gao Yuguang are unknown. This is the fourth time Mr. Gao has been imprisoned for practising Falun Gong. -
Practitioner Zhang Yunping's Family Members Arrested When They Tried to Visit Him at Jidong Prison
2009-12-21Hao Baoxin, head of the Fourth Division at Jidong Prison, ordered dozens of officers, including prison guards, armed police and local police to arrest family members of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yunping when they tried to visit him at Jidong Prison. Hao Baoxin rushed toward the family and shouted hysterically at Mr. Zhang's wife, "You have committed a crime! You practise Falun Gong!" Zhang Yuping's wife shouted at him, "What is wrong with practising Falun Gong? What crime did I commit by practising Falun Gong?" Hao became speechless. The family went to the Jidong Prison Affairs Office, to file a complaint against Hao Baoxin. -
Mr. Mei Dazuo from Wuhan City Sentenced
2009-12-19Mr. Mei Dazuo runs a business in Xiaodongmen, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, selling floor boards. Mr. Mei is an honest, well-respected businessman. However, because of his firm belief in Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the Chinese Communist Party has brutally persecuted him. On October 22nd, 2009, he was sentenced to four years in prison. When Mr. Mei's lawyer said that his client had not violated any law, the judge agreed with him but said that they did not have the final say in the matter, because such a case was subject to the decision of the Political and Judiciary Committee and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). -
Police of Xianyou County, Fujian Province Persecute Falun Gong Practitioner
2009-12-19On August 11th, 2009, chief Yang and officer Xie Desheng of the Domestic Security Division in Xianyou, Fujian, and police from the Daji and Longban village police stations broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Zeyu and ransacked it without a search warrant. They broke household items and alarmed Zheng Zeyu's only relative, his younger brother Zheng Zexin, who suffers from leprosy. The neighbours begged the police to stop tormenting the unfortunate brothers, who had been orphans since childhood. But the depraved officers ignored them. Zheng Zeyu became homeless. His brother was left on his own, unable to take care of himself. -
Sujiatun District Court in Shenyang Tries Ms. Yu Jingzhen
2009-12-18On December 3rd, 2009, Sujiatun District Court in Shenyang City held a trial for Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Jingzhen. Ms. Yu's lawyer Mr. Jin Guanghong made a not-guilty defence. Ms. Yu Jingzhen has practised Falun Gong for thirteen years. On the afternoon of July 28th, 2009, the police from Donggou Town Police Station arrested her when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution, and detained her at Shenyang City Detention Centre. Lawyer Jin Guanghong delivered a good defence for his client. He pointed out that distributing Falun Gong materials doesn't violate any law, nor does it interfere with law enforcement. It is the citizen's right of freedom of speech, as protected by the constitution. -
Arrested 13 Times, Mr. Jiang Guobo Now in Critical Condition
2009-12-17Mr. Jiang Guobo was arrested at his temporary place of work on the morning of February 27th, 2009. Police officers covered his head with a black bag and manhandled him into the police car. He has been held at the Changle Detention Centre ever since. During the months since his most recent detention, Mr. Jiang has been subjected to inhuman tortures without letup. During the cold winter nights, he was forced to stand outside all night long wearing only thin clothes until he lost consciousness due to hypothermia. He has been chained to the "death bed" with both feet and hands shackled until he vomited blood and his life was in grave danger.
