Sweden: Practising Speaking Chinese and at the same time Revealing the Truth about Falun Gong

One day I went to Arlanda (an airport outside of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden) after hearing that many people were flying to China for the Chinese New Year. I brought with me many copies of a Chinese newspaper that is very popular and more objective in its news reports than the state-controlled media in China that Jiang Zemin uses to spread lies about Falun Gong and cover up his wicked deeds. Whilst distributing the newspaper, I also used this opportunity to practise my Chinese.

Many people felt that it was amusing to be able to talk Chinese with a Westerner and the atmosphere was often very good. But it changed, often very drastically, if I happened to mention that I practise Falun Gong in my spare time. It was very obvious that many Chinese people were afraid to even mention the subject. After calmly explaining that I have practised Falun Gong for several years here in Sweden and that it has not only improved my health but also had many positive effects in my daily life, they often became a little bit calmer. Many had heard bad rumours about Falun Gong from the propaganda, which is spread by the Jiang regime to justify the persecution.

I noticed that if I got to know them more personally before we touched on the subject of Falun Gong, they were more open-minded and were able to understand the truth more easily. A typical case was when I met with two girls who were the same age as me. We sat and talked for almost an hour before I told them that I practise Falun Gong, and they were not afraid but instead rather curious. They had many questions and I found out that they knew better than me how many Swedes there were at the peaceful appeal in Tiananmen Square two years ago.

Later on I met a Chinese couple who had been influenced by some of the Jiang regime’s lies. After I explained the true situation and the fact that Falun Gong practitioners do not have any political motives, but only want to live according to the principles of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance), they said, "We now understand that the government has made up all these lies about Falun Gong. We would love to watch this VCD. Thanks!"

On my way home I met another Chinese couple - the husband had just arrived in Sweden directly from China. He would only be here for a few weeks. We started to chat a little. After a while I told them that I practise Falun Gong. The atmosphere in the train compartment changed completely and the man said, "I am a [Communist] party member." Then there was silence.

I continued by telling him about how Hitler, with the help of lies and propaganda, managed to turn the whole German people against the Jews. Later, he committed genocide on a large scale. The husband answered, "Do you really think they are tortured and killed?" I showed them some pictures and information, and told them that Amnesty International has made detailed reports about this and that the world is very concerned of the atrocities committed against Falun Gong practitioners. I also explained that I, as a matter of fact, had met with several victims who had suffered severe torture in Chinese forced labour camps. When they were about to leave, he held the VCD I gave him that revealed the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution, and he said, "This may be the best present I have ever received!"
