A few days ago three of us went to the airport to hand out truth-clarification material to Chinese people arriving in London. It went well and we handed out all our materials in a short time. As we were preparing to leave, a Chinese woman approached us and asked us if we could help her. She was with another Chinese lady who had just arrived from Beijing (who, incidentally, had refused to take our materials earlier). It was explained that the lady from Beijings daughter had not turned up to meet her at the airport and she was understandably anxious. The first woman had tried to help and phone the ladys daughter but she could not get through. Now she had to leave and asked us to stay with this woman until her daughter turned up. We agreed and continued to try and contact the daughter by phone without success.
In the meantime we tried to clarify the truth. This woman, lets call her Ma (we never did find out her name!), was initially a bit taken aback and nervous when we explained that we were Falun Gong practitioners. We showed her our copies of Zhuan Falun in English and when we gave her some materials she was hesitant but eventually took them and indicated that she would read them later. By this time we had made some arrangements for her with the airport staff and confident that she would be taken care of, we went off to get something to eat before making our way home.
On our way out about half an hour later we noticed that Ma was still waiting by the helpdesk, sitting on her luggage. By phoning a Chinese practitioner and using her as a translator, we asked Ma if she would like us to take her to her daughters house. Reassured by the Chinese practitioner she agreed and we set off, carrying her luggage and letting her see our light-hearted demeanour. Sitting on the tube, we pointed out photos in our truth-clarification materials of the self-immolation incident in Beijing and let her read the accompanying text. By the time we made it to her daughters house in the pouring rain, Ma understood the truth. She said that we were good; that Dafa practitioners were good, and that we were righteous.
There was nobody at her daughters house when we arrived, so as we waited for the daughter we used a music box to listen to Dafa music and to show Ma the exercises. She was enthusiastic to learn them all and immediately got the hang of them. As she followed the movements she wore a blissful smile and seemed radiant. The atmosphere was extremely righteous and harmonious and made a great impression on us all.
After waiting for some time we considered going back to one of our houses to wait, as it was fairly close. Again we used a Chinese practitioner via mobile phone as a translator but this time Ma talked solidly and excitedly into the receiver for some time. When we eventually got the phone back and had a chance to talk to the practitioner she told us of Mas shock and excitement at finding out the truth, which was extremely gratifying. At the very moment we had collected up all our belongings and were about to leave, the daughters flatmate arrived and told us she would contact Mas daughter immediately. Ma touchingly gave us all a hug and thanked us. Then we said our goodbyes and left.
Although she was initially reluctant to take our materials, it felt as if it was just a very thin shell that was restraining this lovely woman from accepting the truth. When we broke through it, everything about her changed immediately. I had the impression that the whole field around Ma immediately became bright and infused with light. It was wonderful and encouraged all of us to persevere in clarifying the truth to Chinese visitors more widely and in a more refined way.
