UK: Dafa Practitioners are Invited to Give Performances in Several Different Places During the Chinese Spring Festival

UK Dafa practitioners were invited on several different occasions to give performances at Chinese New Year celebration parties held by different communities and schools. Their performances received high acclaim from sponsors who wanted to have more opportunities to work with Dafa practitioners in the future.

On January 31 2002, after the invitation of a school tutor’s Chinese students in Oxford, Dafa practitioners participated in their Chinese Spring Festival Evening performances. The tutor especially invited us because he had seen a Falun Gong practitioner’s extraordinary performance of lute music. We showed the Chinese students a traditional Chinese Fan Dance to extend our good wishes to the Chinese people. After the celebration, the practitioners gave Video-CDs revealing the truth about the Jiang regime’s persecution to these students who happily accepted them. The tutor also introduced the practitioners to his VIP guests from the Oxford city government and school leaders. The practitioners took the opportunity to reveal the truth about Falun Dafa while having conversations with them. In the end, the tutor said he hoped to invite us to teach their students to perform Fan Dances and introduce traditional Chinese culture.

On February 1 2003, Dafa practitioners went to the city of York to give performances in a New Year celebration at the invitation of an association in York, as they were a first place winner in the parade performances last year at the opening ceremony of Edinburgh International Art Festival. However, due to interference from another association backed by the Chinese government, they were unable to give performances at the celebration. The practitioners changed their schedule and gave performances in York city centre. They sang songs composed by Dafa practitioners, that talked about rescuing two UK practitioners’ relatives in China. Dafa practitioners’ soulful and touching performance won rounds of applause. Spectators were happy to take our flyers and sign their names on our petition letter.

On February 2 2003, practitioners participated in a New Year celebration held by Chinese communities in the city hall of Oxford. About 600 people watched the performances, including the mayor of Oxford and VIP guests from the city government,. A practitioner from Oxford performed her own music on a lute. In the end, young practitioners performed a lovely and joyful dance. An audience member remarked, “It’s so sweet”. The mayor had a conversation with young practitioners and had a photo taken with Dafa practitioners.

On February 3 2003, an Oxford TV Station invited practitioners to make a special live program celebrating Chinese New Year. While introducing Chinese cuisines, the TV viewers also watched our traditional Chinese Fan Dance and the performance of practitioners’ songs played on Chinese musical instruments. Accompanying this performance were two practitioners who gracefully performed Falun Dafa exercises behind the musician. The host curiously asked what the exercises are. The practitioners took the opportunity to introduce Falun Gong to the TV viewers. The musician had an interview with the host. She said practising Falun Gong endowed her music with spiritual gift, because she obtained a peaceful mind and inspiration from the depth of her heart.
