Many Dafa practitioners illegally tried
Ms Wu Xinfei, in her forties, was an employee of the Qinhuangdao Electric Motor Company. She went to Beijing to appeal many times, and was detained and suffered a variety of tortures at the hands of the police. Once the transportation police branch of the Qinhuangdao City public security bureau interrogated her under severe torture, causing her to be unable to walk for many days. She was later sentenced to five years in prison.
Mr Guo Hongshan, in his forties, was a policeman at the Yaohua public security branch in Qinhuangdao City. He was initially assigned as a spy to monitor Dafa practitioners, but later decided to become a true Dafa practitioner. After July 20, 1999, he and his wife went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. They were detained and then released. In May 2001, police arrested him again and tortured him relentlessly. It was reported that the beating broke one of his legs. He was later sentenced to ten years in prison.
Many Dafa practitioners illegally sent to forced labour camps or detained
Ms Ji Yan, 33, was a hairdresser. For her firm belief in Dafa, she was detained many times. In 2000, she was illegally sent to the Kaiping District Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City. After going on a 100-day hunger strike, she was in a critical condition, her weight dropped to 25 kilograms. She was then finally released, but despite her terrible condition the police still kept harassing her at her home.
Ms Fu Weiping, in her forties, was an employee of the Qinhuangdao City Public Bus Company. While detained in the Kaiping District Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City, she was tortured severely during several periods of intensified persecution. Once, about ten police officers shocked her with three electric batons simultaneously, until all the three batons ran out of batteries. This torture caused her mouth to swell up horribly, and she was unable to talk or eat, causing extreme pain. She suffered brain damage, and the nerves of her legs were severely damaged, which left her unable to walk. She was finally released after repeated requests from her family. The forced labour camp officials, afraid of their atrocities being exposed, frequently went to harass and threaten her at home.
Bi Yanling, female, in her thirties, was a clerk in the Qinhuangdao City Industrial and Commercial Bank. She was fired from her post for her firm belief in Dafa, and was detained and savagely tortured for going to Beijing to appeal. In 2000, she was illegally sent to the Kaiping district forced labour camp. She was beaten up, handcuffed many times, and hung up in a tree during several intensified persecution campaigns against Dafa practitioners. She was also tortured for going on a hunger strike. In May 2001, she was sent home after going on a hunger strike of over forty days, but the police kept on harassing her when she was home. In December 2001, police from Qinhuangdao City sent her once again to a forced labour camp, but the camp refused to accept her. Police then gave 5000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] to the camp to insure that she was accepted. She was badly abused in the camp, but her belief in Dafa remained firm as ever. She was finally released unconditionally.
Ma Changyong, male, in his forties, was an employee of the 3524 factory. He has been detained many times for persisting in his belief in Dafa. In the first detention centre of Qinhuangdao, police drove a nail into his thigh and tortured him in other ways, but could not shake his righteous belief in Dafa. Later he was sent to the Kaiping district forced labour camp in Tangshan and suffered various tortures. He was later transferred to the Gaoyang forced labour camp, where police used three electric batons to hit him simultaneously and beat him with boards with nails in them. His body was full of scars, but he has steadfastly refused to renounce his belief in any shape or form. In October 2002 after two years and five months of detainment, he was released unconditionally.
Sun Shuqin, 49, and her husband are both employees of the Qinhuangdao Yaohua Glass Company. Their salaries have been suspended for one and a half years. The Heibei Normal School had admitted her daughter, Sun Buyang, but since she did not give up the practice of Dafa and refused to write a "guarantee," she was denied the opportunity to enter the school. The family of three has suffered huge mental pressures during the past three years. Just for speaking up for justice, Sun Shuqin was detained many times. She was also sent to the Kaiping district forced labour camp in Tangshan, but was not accepted because she did not pass their physical. In July 2002, she and her daughter were arrested in a market. She was sent to the forced labour camp in Tangshan, and her daughter was sent to a brainwashing centre in Shanhaiguan. Then police went to arrest her husband Sun Zhangzhu. Conspiring with the Yaohua Company, the police tricked Sun Zhangzhu by saying Sun Shuqing had been in a car accident. When Sun ran down the stairs upon hearing the news, the police arrested him and sent him directly to the Shanhaiguan brainwashing centre. Sun Zhangzhu was not allowed to sleep for many days, and he was later sent to the Hehuaken forced labour camp in Tangshan City.
Li Ziying, female, in her fifties, was detained many times for her insistence on cultivating in Dafa. The abuse she suffered during this time left her quite debilitated physically. In August 2001, the police squeezed her into the trunk of a police car while she was handcuffed, and drove her about 100 kilometres to the Kaiping district forced labour camp in Tangshan. Seeing she was on the verge of dying, the camp refused to take her. Before the 16th Party Congress opened, she was arrested for no reason, detained for over ten days and later released since she was so weak. During that period, guards beat her for refusing to be force-fed. Her face swelled up and was covered by bruises, and her nose was full of blood because of the forced insertion of feeding tubes.
Sun Yuzhi, female, in her fifties, is now being held in the first detention centre. She was tortured during interrogation. For example, the police repeatedly burned her face with cigarettes while questioning her.
The above is just a small fraction of the persecution that has happened in this area. Many more Dafa practitioners are being persecuted. These cases are being exposed to let the world know about the unjust treatment of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
