Dear Public Representative:
I am writing to you in regards the upcoming United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva starting in two weeks. This year Ireland will be one of the 53 countries that will have the right to vote and nominate resolutions in the meeting. As you may be aware the human rights situation for practitioners of Falun Dafa in China is extremely severe with the treatment Falun Gong practitioners receive showing that Chinese leaders have no regard for human rights.
Starting on July 20th 1999 those who cherish Falun Dafa and hold the principles Truth, Compassion and Tolerance deep in their hearts have been wrongfully thrown into prisons, labour camps and mental hospitals. The authorities, with the goal of forcing innocent people to give up their faith, have used a catalogue of torture methods. Even outside China, places where Chairman Jiang Zemin has visited including Germany, Iceland, Burma and others have been pressured by the Chinese leader to illegally limit the rights of the practitioners who merely want to appeal to cease the campaign of terror and killing. Only last month, Germany issued an apology to Falun Dafa practitioners for compromising their rights to appeal and treating them unfairly. Many human rights groups like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and others have verified this campaign of persecution. Amnesty International in a report on China, called Jiang Zemin a human rights scoundrel. In the US, Jiang Zemin is currently being tried for genocide for attempting to exterminate the one hundred million Chinese people under his power who practice Falun Dafa.
Reports from China have proven that Jiang Zemin is trying to wipe out Falun Dafa. The Irish government has heroically rescued Falun Dafa practitioner and Trinity student Zhao Ming from a Chinese labour camp, for such a small country this is a really amazing feat. Yet it is obvious that Ireland cannot end this tragedy on its own. The United Nations is the most righteous and just voice of the world. I humbly ask you to forward the letter I have attached to Foreign Affairs, urging them to nominate a resolution condemning the persecution in the UNCHR. It will be the beginning of the end of the persecution when this resolution is passed
Please support us.
Sincerely,
Gerald OConnor
Director of Irish Falun Dafa Association
