Falun Dafa practitioners from southern France held a rally in front of the Chinese Consulate General in Marseille on July 20, 2014, calling for an end to the 15-year persecution in China.
A candle light vigil at the old Marseille harbour honoured the practitioners who died as a result of the persecution, officially launched on July 20, 1999.
Falun Dafa practitioners set up an information table to expose the persecution. They also collected signatures on a petition condemning the Chinese Communist Party's organ harvesting from living practitioners.
Some Chinese students discussed the persecution and forced organ harvesting. One student said, “Is it for real? I will read the materials that you gave me.” Another student said that it was hard to believe that this could happen in China.
Two students from Taiwan said that they already knew about the persecution and signed their names on the petition. They encouraged the practitioners to keep up their efforts.
A British student studying international political science said that he was shocked to learn of the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China. “I think there is a way to solve the problem,” he said, “(We can) educate the patients about the facts to reduce the demand, and thus prevent the organ trafficking.”
A local couple told the practitioners that the husband had donated a kidney to his younger sister. When they learned about the forced organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China, they were shocked that such an atrocity could take place. They thanked the practitioners for informing them of the facts and encouraged them to tell more people.
