This weeks radio broadcasting looked at scientific discoveries. Research has proven that people who are virtuous, noble, morally upright and honest live a longer life. For example, it was demonstrated during a number of immunology and aging studies that for people who are aggressive, unfriendly, argumentative, and who show an antagonistic attitude, immune system diseases, such as the cardio-arterial blockage, will worsen. Those who committed serious white-collar crimes, such as embezzlement, were found to suffer from insomnia. Such psychological factors are the outcome of a guilty conscience. The listeners heard that Falun Dafa is most accurately described as a cultivation practice: cultivation refers to the improvement of one's heart and mind through the careful study of Master Lis teachings and trying to live by the universal principles of Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance, and practice means meditating and exercising to purify and energise the body.
Despite the benign, positive nature of Falun Dafa, and that it was once strongly supported by the Chinese government, Falun Dafa's popularity ultimately proved too much for a troubled Chinese Communist Party. In early 1999, an official report showed that over 70 million Chinese citizens, including members of the Communist Party, government officials, scholars, members of the military and police, practised Falun Dafa. The party disliked the fact that the number of Falun Dafa practitioners exceeded the party's own membership. The Chinese national legislature rushed to invent laws to criminalise Falun Gong. Practitioners have endured unimaginable suffering by means of torture and brainwashing to the point at which many have lost their lives. The listeners were asked to sign the online petition and write to their MPs so as to see this senseless persecution of good people come to an end.
