Falun Dafa practitioners from European countries, including Switzerland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Finland, held a rally on Geneva’s iconic square, Place des Nations, on January 22 and 23, 2024. They called for an end of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 24-year-long persecution and organ harvesting, and demanded that all detained practitioners be released immediately.
The United Nations Human Rights Council conducted a review of China’s human rights status based on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) procedure. The human rights situation of all United Nations member states will be reviewed based on the UPR, and the review of human rights in countries that abuse human rights has attracted much attention from the media and the public. This United Nations review of China’s human rights status is an opportunity to further expose the CCP’s long-term persecution of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) to the international community, and help people and governments around the world learn about the brutality in-depth.
Condemning the Persecution
Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) and European CAP Freedom of Conscience held an event in the UN on January 22 and 23 condemning the CCP’s persecution and the CCP’s organ harvesting from living Falun Dafa practitioners. An expert group spoke on China’s human rights issues and encouraged delegations to raise the issue in the UPR of China.
Despite the cold, Falun Dafa practitioners continued telling people about the persecution and collecting signatures. They demonstrated the five exercises and introduced the spiritual practice to international officials and tourists.
Thanking Practitioners
People from all over the world come to the Palais des Nations. A woman from Brittany, France said she previously practiced qigong but was never able to find one she liked. When she heard about Falun Dafa, she said she was very interested. A practitioner explained the spiritual aspect of Falun Dafa, and the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
She said she would look for a group practice site in her area. Before she left, the practitioner gave her a leaflet. The woman once again expressed her gratitude and said, “Thank you, thank you very much!”
A couple stopped in front of the stall and began talking to a practitioner in broken English. Another practitioner overheard the couple talking in Portuguese, so she walked over and spoke to them in Portuguese. They were happy to learn more about Falun Dafa.
A reporter from Iran took many photos of the booth. He told practitioners that he was familiar with Plaza de la Nations because he often went here to participate in activities.
Event in City Center
On January 22 and 23, in addition to the activities at Place des Nations, practitioners also held activities at Place Longemalle in the city center.
They told passersby what Falun Gong is and the persecution in China. People were shocked to learn of the brutality and signed the petition to end the CCP’s persecution.
A passerby was stunned after learning about the CCP’s persecution and organ harvesting. He signed the petition and said he would share the link to the petition on his Instagram account.
Two young Israelis were drawn to the booth, and one said he felt compelled to stop and learn more. They signed the petition and expressed their gratitude for the origami lotuses they received, saying that they would hang them in their cars.
A young man from Palestine said he was unaware of this genocidal persecution. He signed the petition and hung the origami lotus flower on the handlebar of his bicycle. He said he hopes the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will put an end to all the cruelty in the world today.
A gentleman stopped at the booth and wanted to learn more. When he heard about the persecution, he signed the petition and said he would sign it a hundred times if he could. Before leaving, he thanked the practitioners for everything they did.
