Practitioners held an event near one of Berlin’s iconic landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate, on August 3, 2024, to tell people what Falun Dafa is and to expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. The soothing music and gentle exercises attracted many tourists. Some talked with practitioners to learn more about Falun Dafa, and some took pictures or learned the exercises.
Broken Families
Among practitioners on site was Ding Lebin, who hasn’t seen this parents Mr. Ding Yuande and Ms. Ma Ruimei for 12 years because of the persecution. Mr. Ding and Ms. Ma have been detained numerous times for practicing Falun Dafa. Lebin’s 82-year-old grandmother was sad and traumatized and died just before the 2024 Chinese New Year.
Many people said they were glad to hear that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Falun Gong Protection Act in June and the European Parliament passed a resolution in January demanding the CCP end the persecution. They signed petitions urging governments to help rescue Ding Lebin’s parents, and 21 other practitioners detained in Rizhao City in Shandong Province. They said they hope these broken families will soon be reunited.
“We Are All Victims of the CCP”
One couple from Xinjiang came to the information booth and signed a petition. “We are all victims of the CCP,” said the wife. “It is too vicious in China and we Uyghurs suffered a lot.”
They talked with a practitioner, who reminded them that the CCP had killed millions of Chinese people during its previous political campaigns, and that’s why it’s important to quit the CCP organizations. The wife said she joined the CCP’s Young Pioneers when she was a child and happily renounced the organization.
Raising Awareness Through a Car Tour
Together with activities in front of the Brandenburg Gate, practitioners also held a car tour in Berlin’s city center to tell people about the persecution in China. Many tourists stopped to take pictures and videos.
Starting from Berlin, the car tour passed Szczecin and several other big cities in Poland, continued along some coastal cities in northern Germany near the Baltic Sea before arriving in Hamburg.
