On June 10, 2001, while clarifying the truth together with his sister at the Donghuayuan Bus Station in Huailai County, he was arrested by the director and nine policemen of the Donghuayuan Police Station. The police hung him up and put him through the most pernicious torture, beating him savagely. As a result, he spit up blood, his entire body was black and blue, patches of his hair fell out leaving a piece of his scalp exposed, and both his legs were broken. Despite the fact that he had been tortured to a state of paralysis in both legs, the police still sent him to the Huailai Detention Centre to be further persecuted.
The next day, the director of the Beixinpu Town Police Station, Liu Yufeng, cheated him into believing that he would be sent home, but he was taken directly to the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province, without any legal procedure. At that time, his injuries were very severe. In the labour camp, he was intimidated and tortured by the police and criminals. They now assit in the persecution of Dafa practitioners.] attempted to brainwash him 24 hours a day.
After one and a half years of torture, Chen Hongping was on the verge of death. On January 29, 2003, Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp sent him to the local hospital and he was diagnosed with four serious illnesses. Not wanting him to die in the labour camp, the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp hastily ordered a policewoman to send him home the same night. After arriving at home, he was still in high fever and kept coughing, his heart failed to work properly, and he could not eat. On March 5, he passed away at home.
