Irish practitioners have stepped up their efforts in the campaign to see Mr. Liu Feng released and allowed to return to Ireland to continue his studies. Following the successful release of other persecuted Dafa practitioners, including Dublin student Zhao Ming who returned to Ireland in 2002 after suffering almost two years of torture and persecution whilst incarcerated in China, Irish practitioners have doubled their efforts to secure Liu Feng’s safe return.

On Friday 11th April 2003, popular Irish radio station "Radio Na Life" publicised the letter writing campaign that is being run by Amnesty International and the Irish Falun Dafa Association to rescue Liu Feng. The radio station interviewed practitioners about the persecution of Falun Gong in general and the case of Dublin Students Liu Feng and Yang Fang. Over the weekend, practitioners took to the streets of Dublin to tell the Irish people about the case of Mr Liu Feng. Many kind-hearted passers by took petition letters and expressed their dismay and horror at the Chinese regime’s treatment of Falun Gong.

Mr Liu Feng is in his early twenties and returned to China during Christmas of 1999. Despite being enrolled in a college in Dublin, with a valid passport and visa to return to Ireland, he was being detained in the Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City for refusing to renounce his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
