Four years ago on April 25th 1999, over ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful group appeal to the Chinese government asking for their basic rights and a peaceful practise environment. They also requested that the government fairly handle the incident in which Tianjin police illegally beat up and detained over 40 Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners exercised their rights granted by China's constitution. Their action was legal and reasonable, but Jiang used this as an excuse to launch the persecution of Falun Gong. Since then, millions of practitioners have been beaten up, detained, tortured, slandered, and framed, while at least 669 are verified to have been murdered.
To commemorate this special day and the practitioners persecuted to death by Jiang's Regime, practitioners of Queensland Australia held a candlelight vigil and candlelight parade in front of the civic hall near King George Square from 4PM to 8PM on April 26 2003. At the same time, the practitioners exposed Jiang and his followers' crimes of persecuting Falun Gong to the public with a large amount of evidence.
