On May 11 2003, more than 200 Northern California Falun Gong practitioners held large-scale celebration activities in San Francisco. At 8:30 a.m., practitioners had a large group practice and sent forth righteous thoughts, then distributed leaflets and displayed photos in Chinatown. Music and dance performances were held in Chinatown in the afternoon. The celebration ended with a cheer of "The World Needs Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance."

On May 11 2003, San Antonio Dafa practitioners held a photo exhibition and exercise demonstration in Alamo Square, the famous landmark of the city. The San Antonio government offered support to this activity and the mayor issued a proclamation for May 13 World Falun Dafa Day, which is the 5th time that the city has issued a proclamation to Dafa. Many passers-by and tourists stopped to see the pictures and posters. They expressed their sympathy and support after hearing about the persecution in China. The local NBC and CBS television stations came to cover the event. The practitioners not only told the reporters about the persecution in China, but also the lawsuit against Chinese dictator Jiang for his crime of genocide.

On the morning of May 10 2003, Washington DC Dafa practitioners celebrated World Falun Dafa Day on the National Mall.
The activity started with an opening speech from a Western practitioner. He briefly introduced Falun Dafa, its spread worldwide and the many benefits to practitioners and society. Another practitioner sang a celebration song that she composed herself. Practitioners in classical dresses performed a graceful fairy dance and young practitioners from the Minghui School sang songs, catching the attention of many tourists. A Western practitioner's performance reciting poems with music demonstrating the great compassion, tolerance and righteous thoughts of Dafa practitioners facing brutal persecution in China was very moving.
At the same time, the Journey of Falun Dafa photo exhibition caught the eyes of many tourists. People looked at the pictures and read truth-clarifying literature. One tourist from mainland China said, "Actually, people in China know the truth. All Falun Gong practitioners I know are very good people."
