I would like to express my heart-felt congratulations to Falun Dafa practitioners in Canada who are celebrating the 11th Anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public.
I would also like to affirm my belief that the practice of Falun Dafa is a good one. In fact, Falun Dafa's contribution to society has been widely recognized around the world. Its principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, are principles that benefit everyone.
May 13 is World Falun Dafa Day. Over the last 11 years, Falun Dafa has grown in unprecedented popularity and is now practised by over 100 million people around the world, from all ages, social backgrounds, races, and religions.
It is very sad that the government of China does not also recognize the value of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Over the last four years, China has brutally persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. Nearly 700 Falun Dafa practitioners have been put to death, while tens of thousands more have been detained in labour camps and mental hospitals. Thousands of others have been forced into homelessness or pressured at school or work with government propaganda and coercion.
The Canadian government needs to take a stronger stance against China's human rights abuses. In the US, a lawsuit has even been brought against Chinese leader Jiang Zemin. He should be held to account for these human rights abuses.
I would also like to add that I continue to support the efforts of Falun Dafa practitioners in Canada to free their family members that have been imprisoned and tortured in labour camps. Fortunately, since October of last year, six have been rescued.
Once again, I would like to congratulate Canada's Falun Dafa practitioners and wish them well on their 11th Anniversary.
Sincerely,
Rob Anders
MP for Calgary West
