A Farmer's Family Becomes Penniless Under Persecution

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. Ever since I started to practise Falun Dafa two years ago, I have benefited tremendously from the practice both mentally and physically. After July 20th, 1999, however, under pressure from the officials in Shuangcheng Town at Shuangcheng City, the government of Changsheng village where I live began to threaten and intimidate me and several other senior Falun Gong practitioners. They confiscated our Falun Dafa books and asked us to write the so-called pledge to give up practising Falun Gong. In addition, they often came to our houses to harass us. In order to prevent us from going to Beijing to appeal, the government made two rules: one is that the village government will confiscate our entire contracted farm land if any of us goes to Beijing to appeal; another is that we must pay our own expenses and all the travel expenses [that the local policemen and officials incurred to pick us up in Beijing] if we go to Beijing to appeal.

In June 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. As a result, I was illegally detained for 7 days in the west room 202 of the Xicheng Division detention centre in Beijing. Later, the local government took me back and fined me 600 Yuan. Besides, the Beijing office of Shuangcheng City confiscated 40 Yuan from me, which was all the money I had with me at that time. I was detained in the 2nd Lockup of Shuangcheng City for over 10 days and was fined more than 3000 Yuan.

My parents have also benefited from Falun Dafa. My mother went to Beijing to appeal in December 2000, and was illegally detained in Beijing for one month. After she was taken back, she was again illegally detained in the 2nd Lockup of Shuangcheng City for another month. She was charged over 700 Yuan for room and board, without any receipt, and was fined more than 3000 Yuan. Soon after that, she was locked in a brainwashing class organized by the Shuangcheng Town for over one month, and she was fined additional 2000 Yuan.

My father went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in December 2000, and was detained for 7 days in Beijing. After he was taken back, he was detained for over 10 days in the 2nd Lockup of Shuangcheng City and was fined more than 3000 Yuan. Two days after he was released, officials of the Shuangcheng Town forcibly sent him to a brainwashing class organized by the Shuangcheng Town for further persecution. My father protested with a hunger strike. Yu Zhanqi, the town party secretary, personally directed a forced-feeding, tormenting my father until he only had one breath left. They sent my father to a hospital and later released him for fear that he might die. My aunt turned in the fines (the precise amount is not available). (The average yearly income for farmers in China is RMB 2,000 Yuan to 2,500 Yuan.)

Our family is an ordinary farmer's family that has benefited from Falun Dafa. Just for going to Beijing to legally appeal, we became penniless. At present, I have to travel far from home in order to tell people the real truth about Falun Gong. My parents have to assume all the responsibilities of the farm work. It is Jiang Zemin and his government officials at different ranks who have made our whole family suffer. At the present time in China, many families are suffering like my family. I hope that all the kindhearted people in the world will give us support and help so as to terminate this black terror that is happening in China. Let the evil be eliminated and the good be praised.
