Dafa Practitioner Beaten to Death By Shantou City Police

Mr. Chen Duo, 54, a Dafa practitioner from Shantou City, Guangdong Province, was kidnapped by officers of the Jinsha Police Station on May 15, 2003. On May 26, he was sent to the Shantou City Detention Centre, where he was brutally beaten on numerous occasions. Chen Duo went on a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention, and the police reacted with even more brutal torture. He passed out three times from the vicious beating and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. On June 5, realising that he was dying, the police hurriedly asked his family to take him home. On June 9, Chen Duo passed away due to the severe injuries. Learning of his death, the police forcibly took away the body. It has been said that the police have videotaped the body to use as propaganda and claim that he died because he practised Falun Gong.
