Zhao Ming is a postgraduate in the Computer Science Department at Trinity College, Dublin. In addition to studying in the Networks and Telecommunications Research Group (NTSG) and tutoring undergraduates, he is an active member of the Dublin University Meditation Society. Since May 2000, Ming has been detained without trial by the Chinese government in Tuan He Farm Labour Camp in Daxing County, Beijing for his involvement in the Falun Gong movement. Our latest information is that he has been brutally tortured and forced to renounce his faith. The Graduate Students' Union in cooperation with other student and human rights organisations is campaigning for Ming's return to Trinity.
On the 2nd September Students protested for the release of Zhao Ming when Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji arrived outside Dublin Castle. Several newspapers reported the event.
