I fell unconscious at the time. Later, I awoke to find that I was detained in a mixed-sex "unified ward" that was assigned especially for the detention of Falun Gong practitioners and located on the fourth floor of a hospital. During ten days or so I was given an unknown liquid intravenously from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Everyday this liquid was injected into my blood vessels, but they never treated the fracture in my lower back. I went on a hunger strike for over fifty days to protest the persecution. The authorities then transferred me to a detention centre in Sichuan Province.
In the detention centre, the fellow practitioners there looked after me carefully. No matter how vicious the persecution was in the jail, I insisted on practising the Falun Gong exercises, and I got out of jail several months later. During my time there, many fellow practitioners were taken out for interrogations that lasted days. Later I was told that the authorities tried to extort "confessions" by torturing them in a hotel room day and night. The practitioners suffered from severe physical abuse and mental humiliation.
After five months' detention, I was sent back to my hometown. The local police again tried to imprison me, but my family members told them that we would seek justice if the police refused to set me free. The police again released me after they forced my family to write a "guarantee" (that I would no longer practice Falun Gong) as assurance, but they nonetheless kept harassing my relatives and friends with phone calls.
