On the morning of September 12, two groups of practitioners set up booths and posters at two attraction spots, Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach. They distributed flyers to tourists and collected petition signatures. A moving song "Free Charles Li" attracted many people's attention and they stopped to look at the posters, talked to practitioner and signed the petition. Among the tourists, many were from other states.
In the afternoon, the two groups of practitioners went to the University of California at Los Angeles and the Los Angeles City Hall. Although it was during the summer vacation, there were still constant streams of people on the UCLA campus. After reading the pamphlet regarding the rescue of Charles Li, many people asked if there was any petition letter to sign. Some local media, including Fox 11 and New Tang Dynasty TV, came to cover the activity.
On the afternoon of September 13, some practitioners who had just attended a parade in San Diego also took a special trip to the City of Riverside and San Bernardino to hold truth-clarifying activities. Local media took one and a half hours to interview practitioners and cover the activities.
