Last Monday I distributed Falun Gong newspapers at the entrance to the students dining hall in my university. As usual there were some who accepted the paper, with or without comment. Some actually smiled at me. Several Chinese students also passed by. None of them accepted a newspaper. I was unfazed and continued to hand out papers.
Wednesday lunchtime I went to the dining hall again. Some students recognized me from before and told me they had taken the paper last Monday. Others became curious and asked what Falun Gong is all about. This gave me a chance to talk about cultivation and the persecution in China. One student asked whether I would be interested in setting up a Falun Gong information booth since he had seen one in Marburg once (Marburg is another university town in the State of Hessen in Germany). I told him yes. After that he gladly accepted a Falun Gong newspaper. Yet another student said that his father knows someone in town who could arrange an information booth for me. I asked his name. As it turned out, not only did I know the practitioner but also the father of this student. The student present was pleasantly surprised to have found in me a practitioner close to his own age. He took a newspaper and left me with the impression that I might see him soon at the practice site.
As I had done on Monday, I again offered the paper to the Chinese students. Most of them had already seen me before and noticed that neither on Monday nor today was I grumpy or unhappy at their refusal. They were surprised to see a German intervene for the persecution in China. I remained firm and kept sending righteous thoughts. This Wednesday then, to my amazement, a student from every other Chinese student group passing by accepted a paper, which meant that every third Chinese student who passed me held a Falun Gong newspaper. Some even warmed up to me and nodded in a friendly way. The others became curious and stood close to them, wanting to find out more and began to look through the paper. My perseverance and steadfastness, coupled with the righteous thoughts overcame my fear of the Chinese students manners and broke through their indoctrinated hesitation.
That way, ever more Chinese travelling abroad are able to find out the truth about Falun Gong and play a role to convey this truth to their Mainland China families. An example is the one Chinese student who asked many leading questions about Falun Gong and telephoned his family in China the next day, to change their perception with his newfound good opinion of Falun Gong.
