Ms. Li Binnan, 64 years old, is a retired senior engineer. One day in the middle of April 2003 when she went to mail several letters enclosing truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong, she was arrested by the people from the Huangwa Street Committee, the "610 Office"* and Huangwa Street Police Station. They demanded Ms. Li write a "guarantee not to practise Falun Gong anymore. But Ms. Li firmly rejected their unreasonable demand and said, "I am a Chinese citizen, don't I have the right to mail letters? I am going back home." The "610 Office" released her.

But not more than half an hour after she arrived home, lawless policemen and officials of the "610 office" broke into and illegally searched her house. They arrested her and took her to Chengdu City Detention Centre, and tried many times to force her to write a guarantee. However, Ms. Li didn't cooperate with this unjust demand at all. Then they expressed their intent to send Li Binnan and several other practitioners to the Nanmusi Female Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong City for further persecution. Because the results of the medical check on the practitioners showed that they were all seriously ill, the labour camp refused to accept them. They were sent back to the Chengdu City Detention Centre.

But the detention centre authorities didn't release them; instead, the policemen brutally tortured them with handcuffs, shackles, force-feeding and injections.

We appeal to kind people all over the world to help stop such crimes and urge the Chinese government to release all illegally detained practitioners as soon as possible.

*The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.
