This was because she had suffered greatly in detention and was emaciated, she could only weakly answer the questions posed to her with gestures such as nodding or shaking the head. It was a shocking sight! She collapsed in court and was carried in and out of the court several times. As a result, the court had to take a break in their illegal questioning each time she collapsed. At that time, there were practitioners' family and the lawyers representing her who were present. Later Li Weihong was bailed out for medical treatment, and was brought back to Shanghai by her stepfather. In June 2001, the Wenzhou Municipal Court issued an illegal verdict and Li Weihong was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
At that time, another practitioner named Zhang Xinhong from Zhejiang Province was also on trial. Since November 2000, Zhang had been illegally jailed at Wenzhou Lucheng Labor Camp by the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau and the "610 Office" for over one year. At the end of 2001, Zhang was summarily sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. Zhang Xinhong is serving a term at the No. 4 Prison of Zhejiang Province. Zhang Xinghong's father was ill after being forced to give up practising Falun Gong against his own will and died because of failing to respond to any medical treatment several days before the illegal verdict was issued.
