The Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Zhaoyuan County, Heilongjiang Province

Since July 22, 1999, Su Changqing, head of the Liming Police Station in Zhaoyuan County, and his assistants, Yu Xiangjun and Wang Xiaodong, made every effort to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners. Many practitioners were arrested and beaten up. On September 30 and October 1 respectively, during the mid-autumn festival, he again led the police in a raid of practitioners' homes, disturbing the entire neighborhood. He used deceit to try to get a practitioner to come to the police station so he could forcibly detain the practitioner. The practitioner didn't believe him. The police then ignored the practitioner's poor physical condition and cruelly dragged him outside the building. The practitioner passed out from this mistreatment, so instead of being forcibly detained, he was sent home for surveillance. Family members of practitioners, their relatives, and their neighbors now live in terror because of the disgusting conduct of the evil people in the County. Whenever someone knocks at their doors they are afraid. They think that it must be the police wanting to arrest someone. A six-year-old child lives next door to a practitioner. Every day he fears the police will arrest his mother because the police have often interrogated his family members, asking if their neighbor was practicing, or if there were people visiting the neighbor. Why instill terror in the heart of an innocent child? This serious violation of human rights receives condemnation from more and more kind-hearted people.
