"Something needs to be done, so that justice is served and the persecution against Falun Gong is stopped." - A Member of European Parliament Offers Help to Bring a Persecutor to Justice

During Luo Gan’s visit to Finland in September, a criminal complaint was filed against him for crimes of torture and genocide in persecuting Falun Gong via the “610 Office”. Practitioners in Finland contacted the Finnish government, the parliament and also Finnish Members of the European Parliament to let them know more about the lawsuit. Here is a response from a Member of the European Parliament. Their name has been omitted to prevent them from being harrassed by the Chinese authorities.

Thank you for contacting me and for the facts that you sent concerning the visit of Luo Gan to Finland, as well as the information about the charges that are targeted against him.

The measures that China has taken against Falun Gong, especially after the systematic persecution began in 1999, are not only strictly condemnable but also very concerning. Just as you mentioned in your letter, the international community has raised worries about China through the United Nations during the last meeting and the meeting this spring, and has condemned China. The European Parliament has also seen in the 2002 Human Rights Report, that the one-party-system of the People's Republic of China is responsible for repression and severe violations of religious freedom.

Despite this, the international community has not been able to sufficiently pressure the Chinese government into taking concrete action, so that those responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong can be brought to bear full responsibility for their actions according to the principles of a constitutional state. On the contrary, according to the latest reliable autonomous reports, the Chinese government is continuing its repression against Falun Gong.
