The 10th of December is World Human Rights Day. To mark this important day, both western and Chinese practitioners of Falun Gong from England gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in London to hold a rally and press conference. Protesting against the four year-long persecution initiated by the Jiang Regime in China, the event aimed to raise awareness among the British people and government and to encourage them to call for justice, and help to bring the persecution of Falun Gong in China to an end as soon as possible.
At the press conference Lord Thurlow gave a speech in which he claimed: “In the world a lot of countries have committed serious crimes against their people, especially some African and Asian countries. Nevertheless, why do we protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in London, but not anywhere else? It’s because the crimes violating human rights in China far exceed any other country in the world. It is because there are a hundred million people being persecuted for refusing to give up their moral belief.”
Also at the press conference, letters of support from Members of the European Parliament, UK Parliament, Scottish parliament, as well as members of the Greater London council, were read out. They said that human rights have no boundaries, and that only if the leaders of China truly respect human rights can they win respect from the world.
After the press conference, Falun Gong practitioners performed the song “I Come for You”. The lyrics of this song are a heart-felt appeal to the Chinese people, inspired by the actions of some western Falun Gong practitioners who travelled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. It was hoped that this beautiful song could help those in the embassy understand what was happening: “Over thousands of mountains and millions of rivers, I come again and again for you; I come because I love you. Precious Chinese people, please listen to my heart say - Falun Dafa is good! Please don’t believe those deceiving lies...”
Afterwards, a parade was held through London. The parade began from the Chinese embassy, passed through London’s busy financial quarter and concluded in China Town. Many people stopped to watch. On seeing the banners and leaflets exposing Jiang Zemin's crimes of Genocide, people's reaction was that any form of Genocide was intolerable. Some said: “Excellent! You dare to stand up for what you believe in”. Others expressed their sadness at the fact that there are still people in the world without basic human rights.
When the parade arrived in China Town,, practitioners marched repeatedly up and down the main street to the tune of “I Come for You.” The owner of one Chinese restaurant said: “Falun Gong in the UK is good because Falun Gong can be practised in the UK. In China Jiang Zemin doesn’t allow the practice - China and Jiang Zemin are not good."
