Explaining the Facts to Relatives and Friends on a Return Visit to China

It is now vacation time for Christmas and New Year. I am reminded of the same time last year and the year before, when I went back to China to see my relatives, and my experiences of explaining the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution to them and to my friends.

I had a get-together with my junior-high-school classmates the year before, and they found that I had changed quite a lot. I used to be ill, skinny, and sentimental, and was called “Lin, Dai-Yu”. Now, however, I had become healthy, gained some weight, and had lively conversations with classmates, and was happy every day. During the 10 days when I was with my classmates, I explained about the facts to one of them each night for 5 or 6 nights. As he was quite interested in fortune-telling and supernatural phenomenon, I started the conversation chatting about prehistoric culture and the medical experiments conducted by doctors of Falun Gong practitioners, and to the transmigration of life and death for human. After that, we talked about the persecution.

He truly believes that the persecution exists. He said that the local policemen in their area are local bullies and gangsters who can do anything. I gave him a point by point analysis of the self-immolation and he listened very carefully. He also borrowed Zhuan Falun and stayed up for 2 nights to finish reading it. He thought that this book was profound, and could not be written by an ordinary person, quoting a Chinese saying: “A person above other people does not reveal himself” and that a person should be judged on more than their educational background. Falun Gong is not only for health improvement but also a way of cultivation. He said that, as for the persecution, that is the way the Communist Party is, and that it won’t last long. After I returned, I sent him and his wife a VCD explaining the facts about Falun Gong, and they felt good after seeing it.

When I met with some other friends, I also told them about Falun Gong truth, and they all were very willing to listen.

I brought dozens of truth-clarification booklets in my luggage when I returned to China last year. Due to my feelings of fear, I once had the thought, “what if those materials were discovered in passing through the Customs?” I soon quickly denied the thought and told myself such an idea should not be considered. On the aeroplane, I spent the time reciting Master Li's articles..

In passing the Customs, I tried to think about nothing and recited in my mind our Master’s poem, “Tathagata”.

He comes with the Truth, which gives him full control
And travels the four seas with a free and easy spirit
Spreading the Fa’s principles throughout the secular world
Loaded full with sentient beings, his Fa Boat sets sail

My husband, who does not practise cultivation, got through Customs first and kept looking at me nervously. When I smoothly passed through Customs, we held each other’s hands. I found that his palm was covered with cold sweat. I personally felt the terrible atmosphere caused by China’s persecution on Falun Gong. At all times, one has to face being locked up, sent to prison, cruel torture, spiritual persecution or even death merely because of practising Falun Gong. Bearing tremendous spiritual pressure, practitioners families also live in the shadow of persecution.

Once again I saw the same classmate as mentioned above. Both he and his wife were my classmates at junior high. I told them to cherish the predestined relationships between them, not to look at the other’s shortcomings, to be tolerant, and to grant each other the opportunity for correction. After several days when I called again, he told me that thanks to my counselling, they relationship had become smoother. He also suggested I teach his wife Falun Gong the exercises so that she could control her temper. A couple of days before I left, I taught her the exercises.

In addition, he told me that he had been telling others about the facts ever since I clarified the truth to him the year before. He is a cadre in his area. One time when he was in the Policemen's car , he explained the facts about the self-immolation to two policemen. He told them about the doubtful points that I mentioned to him and made them think seriously. The policemen both felt what he said made a lot of sense.

Afterwards, I went to another city, where four of my junior-high-school classmates came to visit me in my hotel. They all are teachers in their late 30s with great pressure in their life and work. They were not so healthy. When they saw me, a mother of 2 kids at the same age who is also busy, one of them asked me , puzzled, “Why do you look so well?” They also found that I changed quite a lot in my way of life. I had very good living conditions in my childhood and was fussy about food, clothing, and residence. I used to be sleepless when my pillow was changed. However, I gave priority to them so that they slept in the bed and I myself slept on the floor. I am also not as fussy about food as before. They did not know Falun Gong before the persecution. They are not willing to read the newspapers either. So they were eager to know what Falun Gong is about from me. I started by telling them about the changes of my body and inner cultivation. I told them about what Master says about matter and mind being one and the same. They learnt the exercises and were able to sit in the double-lotus position right away.

I also saw anther two fellow practitioners, one of whom is a senior female practitioner whose son is the head of a local public police station. He was ordered to monitor his mother. The senior practitioner’s husband does not practise cultivation. When the persecution started at the very beginning, her son threatened to break off their relationship as mother and son. At that time, she was followed by her family every time she went out. In addition, she was not allowed to leave home for long. She, however, told her family that our Master teaches people to be good, to think for others for everything, and it has nothing wrong. She takes good care of her family and looks after her grandson. So her family turns a blind eye to her practising Falun Gong. Thus, she usually brings her grandson with her when going out to clarify the truth.

My husband and I met a lot of people with predestined affinity when retuning to China. I feel that we all have predestined reason for in being born in China. People over there are waiting for us, so they can be saved.
