Beijing Public Security Bureau Chaoyang Division has Persecuted and Even Killed Many Falun Gong Practitioners
Beijing Falun Gong practitioner Mei Yulan, female, 44 years old was arrested on May 13 2000 for practicing Falun Gong at a practice site. She was taken to Chaoyang Division and detained in Nutong #607. According to a witness from #607, Mei Yulan was very healthy when she was initially detained. The cell head (a criminal inmate) ordered her to be in charge of toilet cleaning and she did a good job.
On May 14, 2000, the detained practitioners started a hunger strike to demand their unconditional release because they were arrested for no reason. Mei Yulan was one of the practitioners who participated the hunger strike.
On May 16, to deter practitioners from continuing their hunger strike, the detention centre authorities started to force feed practitioners with concentrated salt water and soy milk.
On May 17, 2000, Mei Yulan started to suffer terribly from such torturous force feeding.* On the same night, she started to vomit blood.
On May 18, 2000, Mei Yulan's throat swelled seriously and she couldn't talk. Around 8 or 9 pm, she had an unbearable headache and experienced difficulty breathing. Gradually her hands and feet became cold, and her eyes stopped moving. She was taken to the emergency room in the Civil Aviation Hospital.
At 4:10 pm on May 23, 2000, Mei Yulan died. Even now, we haven't hear any news that those who were directly responsible for her death have been held accountable.
Police officers Du Shijun, Zhang Yingnan, Zhou Changwang, and Kang Jianjun handcuffed each and every Falun Gong practitioner and then forced them to stay outdoors in freezing temperatures for 12 hours straight. During the interrogation sessions, Du Shijun and Zhang Yingnan shocked practitioners' breasts with electric batons and forced them to curse the founder of Falun Gong.
According to victims' testimony, Du Shijun and Zhang Yingnan threw Teacher's portrait onto the floor and forced practitioners to step on it. Female Practitioner Li Zhen's eyes turned black and the entire right side of her face turned dark purple as a result of the beatings. A lady over 60-years-old from Henan Province passed out many times during the torture. An elderly lady who was over 70-years-old from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province lost control of her bladder after the torture. Female practitioners Tan Yingchun, from Xining City, Qinghai Province, and Pan Dongmei, from Dianbai area in Guangdong Province, were sexually harassed during the interrogation sessions. Policeman Du Shijun boasted, "The government abuses you, persecutes you. You go ahead and report it to the world if you're so resourceful! The Party and Jiang's regime are running the dictatorship. I am willing to take orders to execute the rights and laws in this land."
Canadian Citizen Calls on International Community to Help Her Sister
Dr. Qiu Qingqing calls on the public to pay close attention to her sister's plight and said that she will seek help from the Canadian and U.S. governments.#
Before the end of January, 45 officials who participated in persecuting Falun Gong including Jiang, Luo, Liu and Zhou were put on a list that is monitored by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). If anyone on the list attempts to enter Canada, a prompt investigation could take place, potentially resulting in refusal of visas to Canada, cancellation of their Canadian citizenship, deportation, and charges and punishment based on Canada's laws governing crimes against humanity and war crimes.
* [Force-feeding is the number one cause of death for Falun Gong practitioners. The purpose of police force-feeding is not to nourish, but rather to torture practitioners and to cause so much pain that they will renounce the practice of Falun Gong. To that end, the police have used many different means to cause excruciating pain and injury, including inserting and withdrawing the feeding tubes repeatedly, leaving the feeding tubes in the stomach, knocking out teeth while attempting to force-feed, force-feeding saturated salt-water, vinegar/liquor, or urine/faeces, etc.]
