There are at least 40 Dafa practitioners detained in the Banan District Detention Center. Some of the practitioners have been detained for more than one year. The living conditions are deplorable. Especially in the male jails, practitioners have not been served enough food for a long period of time.
Cao Xueqin, female, is 41 years old. On the morning of July 6, 2001, she was caught by the police from the Banan Police Station when she was walking on the street. The reason they caught her was that she had something to do with the Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The police extorted her confession by cruelly torturing her. She was beaten to the point of having a cerebral concussion and severe internal injuries. On July 9, she was sent to the Banan District Detention Center. She could not eat anything for a long time. She began to vomit, and even vomited blood. She could not take care of herself for more than two months. This past September, she was transferred to some unknown place for further persecution.
Xiang Dong is an 18-year-old young man. He and his father, Xiang Shihua, were forcibly caught when they were walking in the street. On July 10, they were sent to the Banan District Detention Center. On August 24, the police threatened Xiang Dong when they interrogated him. On August 28, the police brutally beat him. Currently there is no further information about him.
Policeman Liu Xianghai is the head of Department No.1 in the Banan Police Station. He is very vicious and ruthless.
